Phil's POV
We sat, eating.
Dan was sitting across from me, staring at his meal with his fork in his hand.
His eyes flicked to his right, and his grip tightened on his fork.
"Dan." I said, trying to get his attention.
"Dan!" I said, and he looked at me, as if broken from a trance.
"Y-yes?" He looked at me.
"How is the voice?"
"W-well... there's more now."
More?
"Can you tell me about them?"
Dan looked at me, his mouth opened and closed a few times before he replied. "One is a guy - Olive, and another is a girl. She calls herself Martha."
They have names?
"What about the original one? Do they have a name?"
"Yeah. They're called-" He stopped, going quiet.
I realised he was being told not to tell me.
I felt sad that he wasn't able to speak about it.
It scared me, as well.
This mysterious voice must hold a lot of power over Dan.
It scared me what they could make him do.
"Dan... did this voice tell you to kill yourself?" I asked, not wanting the answer.
A small nod from Dan made me run over to him, engulfing him in a hug.
Dan's POV
As I hugged Phil back, I realised he felt different in my arms.
"Phil, have you been eating whilst I was in hospital? You feel skinnier." Concern practically dripped off my tongue.
In my arms, I felt him tense up. "I'm fine." He said, letting out a shaky laugh, "I must have lost weight from all the pacing."
Strange.
