Chapter 4: Man in the road

A week has gone by since I saw the masked man named, Vincent. 'Who was he? And how could he heal me the way he did? How is that even possible? What is he?' I have so many questions that I want answered, but I doubt that would ever happen since things were going back to the way they were...or at least I think so..

I woke up this morning as usual and went to school. 4th block came by pretty quick, I sighed as I watch the clock while my teacher, Mr. Fritz babbled on about his time at a New York History Museum. Soon the bell rang for us to go home, I grabbed my stuff from my locker and headed to my car when my phone started to ring. "Hello?" I asked as I got into my car. "Ah, Yes. I'm looking for (Y/N) (L/N)?" My eyes widened as I swallowed hard. "Who are you?" I asked as the man on the phone chuckled. "Oh, I'm sure you remember me, hon. I'm the one who almost had the pleasure of killing you, but was...interrupted. I see you in your car." I started to panic as I searched for him, but I couldn't find him. I hung up the phone and drove out of the student parking lot.

I got out of my car and ran into my house, locking the doors and windows then went upstairs and pulled out an 5 in. Black United Cutlery Combat Double Edge boot knife from under my pillow. My phone rang again scaring me in the process. "Hello?" Who is this??" My voice cracked a little as I paced around my room. "(Y/N)? It's Jenny. Are you okay?" I sighed in relief, yet continued to paced around. "Oh my god. Jenny, I'm freaking out. I saw that guy again. T-the one that tried to kill me...I-I'm so scared." I started to break when I heard someone downstairs. "Jenny, someone is in the house. I don't know what to-Jenny? Jenny?...No. No. No, please?" The line was disconnected, then I heard someone coming up the stairs. I looked around my room before climbing out of my window, down a tree, ran to my car and drove off. I panted a bit as I quickly looked behind me before continuing to watch where I was driving. 'Where am I gonna go?'

I pulled over on the side of the road and checked the time. It was 5:22pm, the sun is going to go down real soon. I sighed as I turned around and drove towards town. Soon it was dark outside and fog came oddly quick, though the snow falling wasn't making it any better. Once the fog finally cleared up I relaxed a little. Then out of nowhere a man stood in the middle of the road, I slammed on the brakes and tried to turn the car, but it was too late. My car collided with the man, tossing him into the air and hit the ground as the car began to swerve, flipping a few times before coming to a stop with the car upside down. I groaned in pain as blood dripped from my forehead due to the shattered glass. I tried to grab my knife that I put in my boot, but couldn't reach it. Tears fell from my face as I glanced over at man I hit and noticed him getting back up. I started to panic and tried to get my seat belt off. "Oh god, no...come on.." I whimper while struggling with the seat belt then saw the man walking towards me. I tugged and pulled on my seat belt, but it was no use. I was trapped. Before I knew it the man was standing only inches away from my car and ripped the door from it's hinges, I screamed as he kneeled down to crawl inside, but stood back up and vanished. I stopped screaming and looked around. Then a hand suddenly grabbed my arm causing me to yelp. "No! No! Get away from me!" I tried to break free from whomever had ahold of me. "Calm down. Calm down, (Y/N). Hey! It's me. Calm down." My eyes widened as I saw that Vincent was the one who had ahold of my arm. I cried as he climbed into the car more. "M-my seat belt..I-I can't- It's stuck." Vincent nodded and told me to put my hands on the roof, then ripped the seat belt apart and pulled me out of the car as it started to catch fire. Again he picked me up bridal-style as a pair of large white wings with golden tips came from his back and flew into the sky. I clenched onto him as I suddenly became light-headed, then everything went black.
