Chapter 27
Cara
I sat with my back against the door. I probably sobbed for hours. I felt alone and empty. Although I was holding two babies, I felt like I was like a hollow, empty, lifeless figure. Why did this have to happen? Everything was going so well! Who would have thought that the day we moved into our new home that everything would fall apart in a matter of a mili-second. I had everything planned out. Everything was clear to me. I knew exactly what I wanted. And now the love of my life is gone. He isn’t coming back, that’s for sure. I don’t even know if I would forgive him anyway. The things he said to me were hurtful. He meant what he said. It wasn’t out of anger. He meant exactly what he said. Yah a little of it was anger but, it hurt me. How could he think of me like that? I’ve never slept with anyone but him. He was the one I lost my virginity to! And then there’s the fact that we bought this house for us. What are Ava and I supposed to do now? I can’t just go back home, I’d have to move all the way to Arizona. Ava would have nowhere to go and she’d be homeless. I don’t want to go to Arizona. It’s just so far away from my family and friends. I would probably survive with raising the girls alone. But I just knew everything would all fit into place once Keith and I moved in together.
I heard the doorbell ring then. I figured it be Ava or some of the others. I couldn’t move though. I was still in shock and my mind was racing a mile a minute. I heard my phone buzz. Then, I looked at the caller ID and saw that it was Ava. My phone’s been ringing nonstop since Keith left. I ignored every single call. I picked it up then and saw who called in the last 2 hours. Chris calls nine times as well as Ava. Kaitlynn called twice -figures- and Anthony called as well. What a jerk! Why in the hell should I answer his call?
After a few minutes I felt someone banging on the door. Chris was yelling for me to open the door and I heard Ava’s small voice shortly after. There was no way I was getting up. I heard the door being opened by someone’s keys and remembered that this was Ava’s house as well and she had her own set of keys. I felt the door nudge open but it would open any further because I was blocking it.
“Would you at least scoot over a bit so we can come inside?” Chris whines. I move over a little and they walk inside. It was just Ava and Chris alone. They sat on either side of me. I didn’t even look at them; I just stared straight ahead with tears running down my face. I buried my face into Chris’ shoulder and bawled my heart out. I don’t think I’ve ever cried that hard. And the two closest people to me were here for me when I needed them. He hugged me tight and stroked my hair. Ava was patting my back, telling me to let it all out.
“What did he do to you?” Chris said flatly. I thought of his question for a moment. What he did to me was enough to right a book. He met me; he smiled at me one day when I was eight years old. He came to my house every other day to play with my brother but never spoke to me. He went to school with me every day and acted as if I never existed. He asked me out one day out of the blue and changed my life forever. He told me everything about him, all his secrets and dreams. He told me that he always liked me and ruined any chance I had for a normal life. He kissed me one night and made me fall in love with him. He made the crush I had on him turn into a volcano spurting out the lava of love and desire I had for him. He told me he wanted me for himself. He brought me to his house one day and took away my virginity. He got me pregnant. He came with me to the appointments, and stayed by me through it all. He asked me to marry him. He was the idiot who decided that I should move in with him! And he was the ass hole who took my heart and tore it into pieces like it was some paper he wanted to dispose of a quick as possible.
“He broke my heart.” I whispered. It was silent for a moment and then Chris cursed under his breath.
“He told me I could trust him.” He said blankly. He stopped trying to soothe me and got up. He walked towards the kitchen and I heard a door slam.
