Chapter 13
Keith
"What the hell?" I say. I didn't want to scream because I wanted her to explain. But who the hell is Anthony?
"Keith, wait, before you flip, I'm not with him, I'm with you."
"Cara, I know that! Who the hell is this guy!?" I was getting more and more mad. I was just in such a great mood with the twins and all but this!? Ugh...
"You don't know him. I met him at Volleyball camp last summer." She was just pissing me off. Are you kidding me? He plays volleyball!? She's cheating on me with a dude that plays volleyball?
"I obviously don't know him! Why is he texting you?"
"I talk to him!"
"Why are you talking to him!?"
"I can talk to whoever I want!"
"No you can't! I'm your boyfriend!"
"So!? Because you're my boyfriend, I can't talk to anyone you don't approve!?" I was beyond furious now.
"Jesus Christ Cara!"
"We just talk!"
"Does he know you're pregnant?" I say.
"Why the hell does that matter!?"
"Because you're pregnant!!"
"Ugh!" She says.
"Why the hell is he calling you baby!?" I scream. I was yelling at the top of my lungs now. She hesitates for a second and I flip out.
"Get the hell out of my room! Get your shit, and go!" She stares at me and doesn't move for a second. Then she gets up and and grabs her phone.
"Keith, you’re just being pigheaded! You're not even listening to me!"
"Why is he calling you baby?" I say semi-calmly.
"I don't know Keith." Her eyes start to water and she calls that guy. She puts the phone on speaker and he picks up.
"Hey Cara, what's up?" He says.
"Anthony, you're causing problems in my relationship."
"You're in a relationship? You didn't tell me that. What did I do?"
"Why the hell are you calling my girlfriend baby!?" I yell into the phone.
"Whoa, dude, chill! I always call her that. She's always been my baby, even if we did break up."
"Did you know she's pregnant!?" I yell. It got quiet on the other end.
"Keith!" Cara yells.
"Cara, is that true?" Anthony says.
"Yah, I didn't tell you because...I don't know." She takes the phone off speaker and walks into my bathroom. She says some things and then hangs up.
"Why did you do that Keith!?" She says, tears streaming from her eyes. I looked at my sad, pregnant girlfriend and felt terrible. I shouldn't have yelled at her like that. It was wrong, it was abusive, it was mean. I got up and walked over to her. She stared me in my face with angry eyes and said, "I don't even know who you are. Who was that?"
"I'm sorry." I wiped her tears and kissed her forehead. I took her in my arms and rested my face on her head.
"I'm sorry." I repeated, feeling guilty and ashamed for yelling like that.
