Keith

Sunday was the longest day of my life. It makes it even worse when you keep looking at the clock. I was bored so I went to go see what my dad was up to. He was outside lighting up the grill. Apparently we were going to have a family lunch BBQ. My sister was comming with her fiance and her son. My mom come's outside then.

"Keith, go get dressed. Your sister will be here soon. And then when your done, come and help me set up the picnic table with the plates and cups."

"Alright mom!" I go upstairs to my room and quickly change. I loved BBQ's. I put my watch on and my sneakers and headed into the kitchen. I got the plates and my mom got the cups and eating utensils. Just then I heard car doors close and my front door open.

"Mom, Dad? Keith?" I walked into the front hallway to greet my sister. She had big bags in both hands.

"I come bearing gifts!" We all laugh and give eachother hugs.

"Kaitlynn I haven't seen you since Easter. How's everything?" I say. She smiles and hands me some of the bags. Her fiance Derek walks in with my nephew Adam in his carseat. I put the bags down and went over to pick him up.

"Hey little guy! Hey Derek, How's it going? Treating my sister right?" He laughs and gives my a firm handshake.

"Life is good dude. This little man is keeping us up though." We laughed and walked onto the back deck. My dad was finishing up with the burgers and ribs. Derek offered to help and started with the sausages. My mom and I went in the grass with Kaitlynn and Adam and we played with him while we all waited for the food. My mom put the radio on and went to go see who was at the door because the doorbell rang.

"So? How's life?" Kaitlynn says while playing with Adams feet.

"Life is pretty good. You remember Cara Mason? Chris Mason's twin sister?" She thought for a moment and nodded.

"Yah! She was so adorable when she was little. This is the same girl you were with last night, correct?"

"Yup. And I asked her out. Like you said yesturday. We're going to that resturant you mentioned tonight." She smiles.

"Venus De Milo? Or La Amor?"

"Venus De Milo. She's Italian. I figured she would enjoy that more." She nods her head in agreement. Adam starts crying then and he reeked of baby crap. She tells me she'll be back and takes Adam inside. I get my phone and text Cara saying that I'll pick her up at 8. I couldn't wait any longer than that. And then by then this boring BBQ would be over. My mom comes outside with a very tall woman that I didn't recognize, a little girl and a taller girl that looked about my age. They walk over to my dad and Derek first and they share friendly smiles and handshakes. Then they all head my way and I slowly stand up and smile in their direction.

"Keith, I want you to meet a good friend of mine." My mom says with a huge smile on her face.

"Hello, I'm Desire Bacarez, you must be Keith." She kisses both my cheeks and smiles.

"Yes, nice to meet you ma'am." I smile and look at the other two girls.

"Introduce yourselves ladies." Ms. Desire says.

"I'm Allyson Bacarez! I'm 9." She smiles widely and pokes her hand out for me to shake it. She bats her eyes trying to flirt with me. I chuckle and take her hand and kiss it lightly just to play with her. Her eyes widen and she blushes. My mom and her mom laughs. The other girl was staring at me intently and smiling.

"Hey." She says. I walk over to her and offer to shake her hand.

"Hi. Your name is?" She smiles and takes it.

"Alicia Bacarez." She was very pretty I'm not gonna lie. I let go and turn to face my mom.

"Desire and her daughters came all the way from Florida to California because of her husbands job." I smiled and heard Kaitlynn calling me from inside the house. I excused myself and went inside.

When I got inside I followed at loud screaming of Adam crying. I found them in Kaitlynn's old room and her face was red.

"Kay what's wrong!?" I ran over to her and checked the baby for any marks.

"Is that Desire Bacarez?" She whispers.

"Yeah? Why, what's wrong?"

"Okay I never told you this but, Dad cheated on Mom 10 years ago while you were at summer camp...with her." My mouth fell open.

"WHAT!?" My heart started racing. My vision got blurry and I sat down.

"Yah. He promised me that it was a one time thing and I promised him I wouldn't tell you or Mom."

"Why would you keep this from mom!? Kaitlynn, you were old enough to know that was wrong! I was only 7!" I started pacing and she sat down ashamed. I realized that Adam had stopped crying.

"Why was he crying?"

"Teething."

"Why is your face red?"

"I don't know! I'm shocked she's back!" I couldn't stop pacing. I was so shocked. I don't know what my dad did but I hated him for it. I left the room and went back outside. I started walking towards my dad with determination. Alicia was blocking my path. I stopped in front of her and lightly smiled.

"Hi Keith."

"Hey."

"You want to talk?"

"Um, not really, no offense. What time is it?" She looked uncomfortable and checked her phone.

"7:30."

"I have to be somewhere. I'll see you soon. Tell your mom and sister I said bye."

"Okay. Here's my number." She wrote it on my hand and smiled.

"Thanks." And I walked back into the house to get ready.

I knew her curfew was at 12 so I planed appropriately. The night was wonderful. It was fun, romantic and perfect in so many ways. We talked about almost everything. I pretty much knew everything about her. As I'm taking her home I realize how much I really care about this girl. I really liked her and I wanted to be with her. I wanted her to be mine. I walk her to her door and take her hands.

"I had a wonderful time Cara."

"Me too. Thank you for all of this." I smile and take her face in my hands. She was amazing and I couldn't wait any longer to kiss her.

"You're so beautiful." I kiss her then. It was what I dreamed of. The perfect kiss. I didn't want to pull away. I didn't want to go home. I wanted to be with her. She placed her hands on my chest then. I decided to break away.

"Can I bring you to school tomorrow?" I push the hair from her face and smile. I didn't want to miss not a single moment away from her.

"Yes." Her voice cracked. She could barely talk. She was practically speechless. It made me want her more.

"I'll be here at 7:15. Is that okay?"

"That's fine." She smiles and puts her arms around my neck. She reaches up to kiss me and I move my arms to her waist. I kiss her so intimately then. I pull away and take her hand.

"I should go Cara. Its 11:59." I kissed her lightly and back away. I just couldn't stop looking at her. But she went inside and I was alone, again. But the happiest man alive.
