Cara

I awoke the next morning thinking about how I played with Adam. It wasn't even that he was cute; it was just the feeling of holding a baby in my arms. The smile on his face made me even more excited about having the girls.

Keith had left early that morning with a bunch of his friends including my brother to finish moving the things into the house. Today is the day of the baby shower. I had to quickly get dressed and showered because it was already ten thirty and it started at eleven. Ava should've been on her way to come get me. I heard the horn and I grabbed my purse and went downstairs.

"Good morning Cara. How are ya?" Ava says. I smile and say I'm fine. She drives off and points toward her stomach.

"Look, I'm showing a little!" She smiled widely and I laughed.

"You sound excited. I thought you were distraught about the whole situation." She just shook her head and smiled.

"That was before I knew everything would be okay. I was acting like that because I knew how my mother would react. I never would have guessed that my pregnant best friend and her boyfriend would welcome me into their home." She pulled up to the venue and we got out finding my Aunty Lisa.

"Oh my goodness honey, you're huge!" I laughed knowing her good-hearted nature. I hugged her as much as I could with the twins and all. We followed her into the hall and I was shocked. It was beautiful! There were pink and purple balloons all over the ceiling. There were pink and white streamers covering all the walls. There were signs and posters saying 'its two baby girls' on the walls. I saw a long table containing a huge pile of gifts wrapped in mostly pink and tied with big bows. There were about two dozen small round tables with small glass teddy bears as the center pieces. And to top it all off, there was a huge white and pink cake with a stork carrying twins. I quickly found Becca and hugged her.

"Becca this is great! How did you guys pull this off!?"

"My mom, Duh! She provided the money, and I did all the work."

"So did I!" Ava yelled. My grandparents came up to me then. I guess my mom was in charge of the guest list.

"Cara-Lynn! Ecco così bella oggi! Mi manchi così tanto il mio amore." She told me how much she misses me and that I looked beautiful. I thanked her and she kissed both of my cheeks.

"La mia bella, come stai? Come sono i bambini?" My grandfather asked me how the babies were. I told him they were fine and growing at a normal pace. They were on my mom's side and I loved them so much. I called them Nonna and Nonno. They told me that they got me a gift and walked to the table their things were. I saw my aunty Carol and Aunt Louisa. My Uncle Raymond is married to my Aunt Carol and they’ve been married for two years. My Uncle Steve was there too. He brought my cousin, Rachel who was my age.

Ava walked me over to the table where I would sit. Pretty soon, the guests come piling in. Becca had invited the entire volleyball team to the baby shower along with half of the cheerleading team. A couple of my other friends from school came as well. And then there was Kaitlynn, Delilah, and Keith’s mom.

We played a few games and I even let everyone help with the names. Eventually it was time to open the gifts. I opened all the smaller ones first. Most of the girls on the volleyball team got us pacifiers, bibs, towels/rags and a lot of diapers. Most of the girls from the cheerleading team got baby girl clothes (mostly onesies and cute little matching outfits).

My Aunty Carol and Uncle Raymond got us a twin stroller. My Aunty Louisa got us two pink car seats a lot of blankets and baby books. My uncle Steve bought us a play pin, baby monitors and bibs. Rachel also got us bibs but she also bought some maternity clothes that I would like as well.
