The hall was decorated beautifully with huge chandeliers falling from the makeshift ceiling. But that's wasn't what made Aysha gasped. It was the big picture of her and Ahmad on their wedding day that caught her eyes. There was no wedding and even there was it has been canceled.
Ahmad was messing with her. If the picture wasn't prove enough, the big banner showcasing 'Happy 1st Anniversary' would do the trick. She looked around.. sighting her two best friends, along with their husbands Nasir and Musa. Her mother. Her mother in law. Ahmad siblings. Her former co-workers. Everyone she knew and held dearly was there. Celebrating with them! She didn't know when a loud sob broke out if her until she was full on heaving and crying. Ahmad immediately made his way to her holding her in a caring manner.
"Habibti! Are you okay?"
Habibti! That word was alone was enough to make her cry harder. It has been too long that he called her that.
Ahmad almost lost his mind. "Baby what's wrong? Is it because of the prank? I'm sorry toh. Please forgive me but stop crying please." He pleased but Aysha shook her head. When he realized that she wanted some time. He walked her out of the hall.Aysha crude fit a while before eventually stopping. She immediately hugged him chanting "Thank you!" When she was fully calmed, she playfully slapped him on the shoulder.
"Ouch!" He exaggerated holding his shoulder. "What was that for?"
"Why will you do that to me?"
"Because. I needed something to snap you back into reality. So you come back to your senses. My Aysha was perfect. I wanted her back!"
"But you could have talked to me not make me go through that emotional trauma." She defended.
He looked like her like she was going crazy. "Aysha you yourself know it won't change shit. I tried before this remember? So unjust decided to use this tactic. Not the greatest but it was the only option."
"Okay accepted but then who's the Anisa you were always talking to?" She pouted.
Ahmad chuckled." That was Ibrahim. Ever time you think I was talking with a certain Anisa it actually was Ibrahim."
"But she started." There's a Doctor Anisa in your office!" She opted.
"There is?" He looked genuinely confused. "I swear I don't know her."
"Really? But she said you tell her about me."
He looked confused again. "Aysha honestly I don't know her. Maybe she just said that out of politeness or she heard a rumor. The hospital tend to think I don't talk about anything but you" He chuckled. "Which is true!"
"Ahmad!" She called out suddenly and when she got his full attention she continued. "Promise you will never leave me. Even for a moment, I swear I can't live without you!"
"I promise to always be by your side. Come rain come shine. I will never leave you. I won't say till death do us apart because I pray that we will never part and even when we do we shall reunite in Jannah Inn Shaa Allah." And with that he kissed her knuckles.
"Then let's get back to our party!"
