The halls seem quiet as the students take their first class for this school year. A girl, running through the corridors, looks for her room assignment at the fourth floor of the building.

"First day of school and I'm 5 mins late. So far so good!" she utters to herself.

A couple of girls pass by, bumping into her but they did not bother to say sorry. She recognized these girls as they are her schoolmates since grade school. For her, that is not a surprise since she's used to that kind of treatment.

When she finally found her room assignment,
Yanna, a 5'3" skinny girl, brown in complexion, has short straight black hair paired with dark brown eyes, enters the room in embarrassment and silently sits at the back not wanting anyone to acknowledge her unpunctuality.

She smiled and wave to her classmates. This is odd news for them. She used to be very quiet and ufriendly but something changed. Now, everyone seem to notice that she's friendly, open-minded and smart.

Yanna settled down to her seat and looked around. The stares, the whispers and her classmates' faces like nothing's changed. It's still just like the previous years.

But this school year, Yanna is planning to change it all by participating in school activities and make all her classmates be her friends since this is her last year in high school. In fact, she already made a long list of goals and plans to accomplish them all before this year ends.

"For those who are late, please open your book and turn to page 6." their teacher instructed.

As the only person late on class, she blushed in embarrasment and opened her book. As she is reading quietly, she can't help but notice the guy sitting in front of her. She can't resist the urge to stare at the guy because he's so loud and annoying.

Nathan, a member of a school band 'The Third Triumvirate' with his friends Warren and Harry, gets distracted by her stare, turns his head and smirked.

"What are you looking at?" he asked.

"Nothing. You're just too loud and I'm trying to concentrate." Yanna replied and looked away.

"Me? Loud? You're just jealous because nobody wants to ask how's your summer."

"It seems to me like you're interested to know." Yanna said sarcastically.

"I wouldn't dream of it. Why are you sitting behind me? Are you stalking me? You give me goose-bumps man!" he said laughing.

"You're not a celebrity so don't act like you are. The first time I realized it was you sitting in front of me, I know I'll have a very bad school year." Yanna spat.

"You're so thick-skinned. Look at your color. Do you think your skin is fair? Asa." He insulted.

"Well why don't you look at the mirror and wish you look like somebody else. Or maybe you never look at your reflection because the mirror might shattered." Yanna said laughing.

"Oh c'mmon. How dare you talk about my appearance? You have no right because you're not even pretty."

Ouch! Yanna utters to herself.

Then his two friends laughed at Nathan's insult.

"You three are so immature. Please let me study." Yanna said seriously.

This is not news to their classmates or even to their teachers. Nathan and Yanna always throw insults to each other and pretend like their words don't sting. There is not a day when Nathan won't bully Yanna. They would come up of the most terrible words to answer each other. That's how their relationship goes, for now.
