"Clark, Hailey! Up, now!" I slowly opened my eyes to see the same old, Connor. I already know what he's for, so I sit up and hear the creaking bed and the cracking of my stiff limbs. The right arm reaches out, and he injects the milky medicine into my arm through the clear needle.
"I'll be back in 5 minutes. You are going to receive clothes, I suggest you wake up and get yourself situated." And with that, he left the ivory room, wish I could leave with him...
I swung my feet over the edge of the bed, onto the cold hard floor. I looked down and saw the knotted blonde hair resting on my knees. Being stuck in here, I haven't gotten a haircut in quite a long time. I stretched yawned and rubbed my eyes. Next, I stood up and stretched out all my limbs. I did this every free chance I could get. The room had space, considering it has nothing in it except a bed and a chair. I could stretch this way and that, I could hang myself upside down from the bars above my small bed.
"Come on, we don't have time to waste." He led me out the door, wait- I'm out of the room, why? Am I going home? What's home? What's happening? I analyzed the area around me and seen how the floor underneath me was now black, and the area was people dressed the same as Connor, running around, and people were sitting at computers, and some were standing at tables talking about what's different with our blood and their blood.
"Hello Mr. Connor, is this Hailey Clark?" A young woman came up to me, about 27 or so.
"Yes ma'am, and you'll be taking her to there, correct?" Asked Connor.
"Very much so." She took my hand, "let's get you fixed up."The lady led me to a room and shut the door. The first thing I noticed was the plush beige carpeting, and then my eyes led up to the big vanity in front of me, with all sorts of things. On the left side of that, there was a wall that you could open and close, with a big bathroom in it. It seemed like a whole bunch of tools and products for hair. I took a few small steps towards the vanity...is this what they call makeup?
"Excuse me, but what is all this for Ms.?" My thoughts expressed themselves in words.
"Oh boy, we have a big event today! Competing with the other hospitals, with kids with other special abilities as you. It's quite amazing that a 13-year-old can be so powerful!"After saying this, she went got a hot bubble bath ready for me. After doing so I undressed and warmed up in the bath. I never felt this amazing in my whole life. She washed my hair and I washed up my body. I took a step out, dried off and the lady handed me a silk robe and led me to a chair that was in front of the vanity.
She sprayed some mist in my hair and gently combed the brush through it until all knots were nonexistent. She then put an elastic headband on my head that pushed the hair out of my face. The lady applied this creamy stuff on my skin, and some stuff on my eyes, cheeks, and lips. I looked up into the vanity mirror, and I.....I looked...good. What is this stuff?"No time to waste, no time to waste." She muttered as she ran into a closet and pulled out some clothes.
She set the clothes down and told me to put them on as she left the room. The clothes she gave me were a pair of leggings, that were black and yellow striped. And a....sports bra that matched it. Was this it? Were these even clothes? I slipped them on and put my hand on the door handle, waiting. Thinking. Hesitating.Taking a deep breath in, feeling the crisp air enter my lungs. What's going to happen once I open this door? In just a little while everything was already changed, I wasn't familiar with this. A small part of me wanted to go back to my room. Safe, quiet, and of course nothing out of the ordinary. But the rest of me? I couldn't stand staying there. I twisted the handle of the door and pushed.
"I'm ready."
