We all stocked up the fridge and the cupboards with all sorts of food. Canned food, fruits, drinks, snacks, and just lots of food in general. However, she did pick up a small cookbook, I can for sure use that later. She didn't tell us how much it had cost, but she decided to take a small nap on her recliner. It was to be expected that she would be tired, we were stocked up on food that was going to last us for a long time, and I'm sure that she had to avoid everyone on the way back.
Devina also picked up candles, kitchen supplies, rags, more soap, brushes, and shoes for all of us. She bought items that could be used for cleaning and some things for entertainment for Dakota, including a notepad and a few colored pencils. I think that we'll all be using this though, seeing that we didn't want to use the television too often.
I pulled out a bag of lettuce and inspected it, not sure how I could make a meal out of this. The twins then Dakota and I could all eat right now, and I'll save some for Devina if she wants to eat any later on. Remembering the three bowls in the cabinet, I pulled them out and gave them a quick rinse and washed my hands while I was at it. I put about a handful of lettuce in each bowl along with a fork, hoping that it would be enough. The twins and Dakota can eat, I'll eat after them.
"Come on guys." I quietly whispered and waved them over from the living room.
They all walked in and grabbed a bowl before Vale stopped and turned to me, bowl and fork in hand. "Where's yours?" He asked. "Is there not enough? I can split mine with you." The fourteen-year-old offered.
I waved my hands in the air, refusing him. "No, there aren't enough bowls. I'll just wash them after you guys are done then make my own." Vale let out a soft sigh. Dakota was happily eating on the couch and Aiden sat next to him not touching his food, listening in on the conversation between his twin and I. "Just go eat, it's my choice to eat afterward." I firmly said.
Vale looked down at his bowl then closed his eyes for a moment, then joined the other males on the couch and started to eat. Aiden looked at me as if asking if I was sure, I gave him a smile and a small thumbs-up, letting him know that it's alright. I walked over to the kitchen counter and leaned against it, then my eyes landed on the cookbook that was propped against the fridge.
Walking over to it, I thought that it wouldn't be a bad idea to skim through it and hopefully learn something. It contained recipes, pictures of food that I could dream of, meals throughout the day and deserts. But I wasn't sure if we had all of the ingredients to make any of this, but we could always try. Now that we were halfway through the day, they were eating lunch so dinner would be next.
Finally, I found one that I could possibly do. Pasta al Limone. The name sounded fancy, but the picture looked simple and easy. What did I need to cook it? I know I wouldn't be cooking any time soon, but it'd be best to know if it was an option that I could use. The first ingredient was a lemon, I didn't see one when we were putting away the food, but maybe we could go without it.
The second ingredient was pasta, now that I knew we had! Aiden had put in the cupboard earlier, so I looked through the cupboards until I found what I was looking for. Then came salt, I looked towards the stove, it was sitting on top of it, check. Next was a can of heavy cream, I think that we might have that, but I'm not too sure. Once I checked the cupboard I didn't find anything, but when I checked the fridge I found a small can of heavy whipping cream.
Same thing, right? I hope so. Butter was the next item, which I saw when I opened the fridge. Pepper was last on the list of ingredients. The amount of each ingredient was something I could figure out later when I plan on cooking; if I can even cook. I slightly bent the corner of the page on the cookbook and closed it, putting it back in place by the fridge. So now we have dinner plans, I hope I can do this without Devina's help, she does need a break after today. I can't imagine how stressful it must've been on her.
