I took a step outside of my changing room, ready as ever. When it was in that moment two guards, with helmets on that entirely covered their face, stood behind me hastily with two long, black, and thin guns. What was this? Why are they here?
"Go. Don't make me wait, freak." The one on the left nudged me in the back with his gun. I glared back at him.
Why did I have to do this? What's going on? I had no answers whatsoever about what's going on or why they're doing this. I got so lost in my train of thought that I hadn't realized that they pulled out a ring of keys and started to unlock this heavy iron door. Hm, I wonder why it was so protected?
As the door smoothly shifted open, the scenery completely changed from the polished scientific building to a forest-like environment. You could see the towering trees with bushes at the bases of them, dried twigs and leaves crunched underneath our feet, and the scent of greenery filled my nose. I heard the soothing sound of running water in the near distance. I took a few steps to the right and stood on my tippy toes, and saw a stream, clear as glass, slowly moving.
"Hey. Did we say that you could move?" One of the guards sneered at me and pulled me back roughly.
I glared at him, wanted to pounce and put him through hell. But, I knew that I had no choice but to control myself. My bare pale feet stood delicately on the rough ground, and as we were moving forward you could hear twigs snap and leaves crunch with every step. Soon we came into an opening in the forest, just an area where trees were cleared, but the ground was still covered.
I sharply looked as I heard more footsteps from the left of me. A tall boy with short blonde hair looked young, and green eyes had two guards behind him, just like me. As I saw him, a dark-skinned girl with shoulder-length black hair and chocolate eyes. Then just after her two tall, pale, brown-haired and blue-eyed boys with four guards following behind them. They were identical. Twins? How random.
We all looked at each other strangely. It was just now that the girl had the same outfit like mine, except with blue instead of yellow. The twins had on tight-fitting t-shirts and loose pants, with the same black and red patterns. The Blondie had on blue.
All of a sudden, 5 targets popped up out of the ground in the middle of the circle, each target is a hologram with a red square in the center. Each target facing each one of us. We looked at it in confusion, then all of a sudden the other girl's guard said: "What the hell are you waiting for, freaks?"
The dark-skinned girl closed her eyes, and you could see a thick tree root, from one of the trees behind us, rip out of the ground and stab through the center of the target, and the hologram disappeared. One of the twins on the right held out his hand and made his thumb stick up and point his finger out, like a gun. A ball of fire shot out of his finger, "Pew." You could tell he was bursting with energy and wanted to just go, go, go.
The twin on the right proceeded to do the same with ice instead of fire, but with gentler movements, and without the sound effects. He showed a much calmer expression than his energetic twin. Huh, these two seemed like polar opposites.
The other boy, who seemed to be the youngest one here, blew out of his mouth in the direction of the target. As he blew you could hear the rush of the wind run by your ears, and it caused everyone hair to move about. We all looked surprised to see the hologram disappear.
They all looked at me. I was the only one who hadn't done anything, was I supposed to? It's been so long though, is this a dream? The guards nudged me, so I took a long deep breath in and I felt a shiver run up my spine. With shaky hands, I raised them and open my palms. I closed my eyes and focused. My whole body stumbled back as I expelled a burst of my energy in a blast. The strength was strong so it knocked me off my balance a little. My arms and hands were numb, and my body shivered.
"You aren't here to make friends. You're here to do what we tell you to do. You speak when we tell you. You move when we tell you. You eat, sleep, and wear when we tell you, understand?"
Was this how it really was outside of my room? In the real world? Was everyone like this?
