"So.." Lucky mumbled as we walked outside in the brisk air. It was dark now but the busy lights of New York made it feel still a little bit like day time. It felt awkward in a way, the silence both of us didn't know how to break. I was mad at myself for letting us get to this point. We've been so close our whole lives and now, in this moment we were acting like strangers. "So.." I bugged him with a grin creeping up on my face. He pushed his shoulder into me a little as we walked with a smirk.
"Do you like it here?" I asked. There was silence now. It felt so long I glanced up at him to make sure he was even listening.
"Yeah." Was all he said. Disappointed fell over me. I honestly wanted him to say no and come home.
"Why such hesitation?" I giggled but Lucky didn't laugh. He let out a forced chuckle at best.
"I don't know, it feels like home now." He shrugged. That one hurt. We shared our home! Home was with me. But now he simply doesn't want a home with me.
"Oh." I mumbled.
"I've grown custom to the busy streets and the flashy lights. I don't know I think it suits me better."
All I did was nod. I didn't really know what to say.Lucky and I came back to a silent house. The whole gang was in gathered around the front except Alec and Luke.
"You guys missed a big fight." Isabel muttered as she picked at her fingernails.
"What?" I asked.
"Alec and Luke." Sebastian butted in.
"From what we could here one was mad at the other about being in love with them?" Kate frowned.
I glanced up at Lucky and shrugged.
"I'm really tired so I'm just gonna go to bed." I mumbled. Everyone said agreed and we all said goodnight.
I wandered into my dark room and climbed into bed. I was greeted by Luke who quickly wrapped his arms around me and pulled me closer to him.
"Alec does like me." Luke mumbled. I was quiet, my hands were holding his large one, tracing quietly on the top of his skin.
"He said him and I would never be a thing." Luke added with deep sadness in his voice.
"What did you say back?"
There was almost a minute of hesitation where I thought maybe Luke wasn't going to ever answer.
"I punched him."
I sat up and looked at the boy.
"You what?!" I raised my voice just the tinniest, and Luke winced.
"Yea I punched him in the face and he did the same to me. We had a little bit of a fight." Luke whispered. His voice was so quiet.
"Then he fucking bashed my head against the wall." He added.
"Are you okay?" I asked. Hesitation built up again.
"Not really."
I was honestly surprised to hear his raw insecure response. I could tell he was talking about the words that were said during the fight that hurt him more than the actual punches.
"I-i don't want to talk about it."
"Okay." I mumbled.
Luke pulled the bed covers away from him,
"I'm sorry I should give you your bed to sleep in." He started.
"No it's fine come sleep here with me."
"It's okay- I'll go sleep on the couch."
"Luke cmon."
He winced when my voice went just over a whisper.
"Your migraine is that bad?"
"It's beyond bad. I don't know why, the medication doesn't seem to be working."
Luke crawled up out of bed and walked to my door,
"I'm getting water." He mumbled.
