Joey from friends season one is what I live for.
(Andrea) "How's Luke?" Everyone asked as I stepped back out of the hospital room. I sat down with them and sighed. "I don't know, I thought he was just having a headache but then he couldn't see and then he passed out and had some sort of seizure!" "Woah, poor guy." Kate said. "he thinks he's gonna die." I chewed on my lip. "He's not going to die." Lucky said. "W-what if he did?" My bottom lip trembled as tears streamed down my cheeks. Lucky pulled me closer his arm around my body. "He won't." "You promise?" I stared into his blue eyes, "I promise." "Is there a Marcus here?" The doctor came back. He held a large wooden clip board with one of those pens they tie on so people like me can't steal them, "I'm Marcus." Marcus stood up. "There are a number of things that could be wrong with Luke at this moment. We need to get him into a cat scan as quick as possible to see if surgery is needed, will you be alright with that?" Marcus nodded, "Well on Luke's file your the name he added if anything needed to be decided. Please sign here." And Marcus signed. "My nurse here is going to take him to get x-rays, ill let you know in awhile what our plan is." The group was silent for awhile before Isabel of all people spoke up, "I just want all of you to know," "Brace yourself," I whispered to lucky who chuckled slightly. "I'm really sorry about Luke, I wasn't very close but I sure hope he'll be okay. I'll be praying for him." And this was one of those moments when you see a person completely different. • "Andrea?" The nurse stuck her head outside of Alec's room, "What?" "Um we have a little bit of a problem." Everyone looked up, "Just Andrea." She purses her her lips. I slipped into the room and it was still about the same thing minus Alec screaming, pain, poking at wound, towel. "What is it?" "He won't eat." I frowned and stared at Alec. He rubbed his face. "Eat your damn food." I said. "You don't get it. I can't or I'll throw up." "Why? Are you sick?" The nurse asked. "No." Alec muttered. "Why do you need him to eat?" I asked the nurse, "His blood sugars drastically low and we can't inject pain killers or anything powerful into him right now which means we can't place his bone back and stitch his skin back together." "Maybe just do it without pain killers it'll teach him a lesson," Alec glared at me making me a little happy. "He can't move during it." "Alec eat the food!" I shouted at him, "I can't!" He shouted back. "So why can't you exactly?" The nurse pulled her chair closer and took out her notepad. I sat down beside him I never noticed how the slit in his eyebrow reminded me of Charlie Puth. Hot. "Do you know how much you weigh?" Alec had an uneasy vibe about him suddenly. "Why?" "I just need to know." "180 pounds." He shrugged. "Are you sure?" I frowned, weird question to ask. "..yea it's about that?" "Get up. Go to the washroom, in there, there's a scale. Weigh yourself." "But my leg-" he frowned, "It's not you knee it's not you ankle you'll be alright." The nurse was beginning to come off as rude. "But that's a pretty big bone in the body." I interrupted. That 4 years of health science was more important than I thought. I'm totally kidding. "And your going to have to walk on it at some point." Alec sucked in his bottom lip and got up. A small whimper left his lips as his foot touched the ground. He limped to the bathroom and got on the scale. "Well?" He muttered to himself and came back sitting down. "186." "When was the last time you weighed yourself?" He didn't speak. "When was the last time you weighed yourself?" "This morning." "What have you eaten so far today?" His cheeks were red as he stared at his hands, "Nothing." "That must have been some heavy nothing to make you gain 6 pounds." She began to write on her notepad, "How tall are you?" "6 feet maybe 1 inch." He was quiet. "If we would have given you the percise amount of pain killers for someone who weighs 180 pounds you'd still feel pain and you would have messed our work up causing extreme pain, I'm going to get a therapist in here." And with that the old grumpy nurse left. An awkward silence sat between us. "I-i just don't like hospital food okay?" I knew he was lying. "Okay." "It is pretty bad." I said trying to make him feel better. Why would he be self conscious of his weight? He's super athletic and from what his shirts are letting me see he has a pretty hot body. He seems to have that same build as Luke, who plays professional . Weird, I'd never thought of him to be that kind of person. "I'm sorry you had to see that." He mumbled. "And I'm sorry I yelled at you." I chuckled, "I'm sorry I yelled at you too." I said. He pulled my chair closer while I was still in it while he was laying down in his bed. He traced one of his fingers on my hand that was resting on the handle of his bed. "You can leave if you want." He said. "Honestly, Id rather stay in here with you." He smiled slightly. "Okay." Suddenly Luke was reeled back in and I ran over to him. Marcus was with the doctor and two nurses. "They have to set him up before..." I glanced back at Alec who was watching, "Before what?" "Surgery. He has a pretty severe brain bleed from the fall." My hand found its place on my mouth as the doctor explained how easy it could be for complications. "We'll have to start in a few minutes to make sure the bleed doesn't get worse. The operating room is just down the hall but I suggest you wait here. We'll give you a few minutes to see him before he's got to leave." I cried, harder than I've ever cried before. "Your not gonna die okay? Your not." I rubbed my thumb across his face moving some of the hairs. "Lucky promised you won't so now you can't." I cried. I dropped my face on his chest, as it rose and fell. "Please, please be strong Luke." I sobbed. Everyone came into the room for a few more minutes until the doctor took him to the surgery room. Everyone went and sat back down in the waiting room. "How'd it happen?" I asked Alec while we waited, "We were arguing and he pushed me and I was closer to the edge than both of us thought, and I grabbed his arm and he fell too." "So if he dies it would be your fault, because you pulled him." "I guess. And if I died it would be his fault right?" Alec said expressionless. "I guess." The door opened and a middle aged lady came in. "Hi Alec." She smiled and sat at the foot of his bed. Alec glanced at me. "She can stay it's alright, you'll have someone else to talk to later on." I sat back in my chair ready to listen. "I'm Lucy, I'll be asking you a few questions." She glanced down at her clipboard. "So I've heard you've had some trouble keeping food down yes?" Alec shrugged his cheeks turning pink. I grabbed his hand and he quickly looked at me, "It's alright." "I guess you could say that." His voice was quiet. "When was the last time you ate?" He pulled his hand away from mine and stared at the wound on his leg. "Yesterday." "And did you throw up when you ate?" Tears formed in Alec's eyes, "Y-yeah." "Okay, that's alright." "Are you scared of being over weight?" "I don't want to do this." Alec snapped. "These can be just yes and no questions, Alec, this is confidential." He rubbed his eyes and laid back on his bed. "Yes." "Pardon?" The lady asked, "Yes! I'm terrified of being overweight." He covered his face with his hands. She nodded writing on her clipboard, "Do you think a lot about what your eating? Put too much time into your food?" "I don't know." His voice was muffled by his hands, "Okay," she wrote down whatever and moved on, "Do you feel guilty after eating?" Tears streamed down his cheeks, "I guess so." He mumbled. "And you did refuse to eat the food the nurse offered." "Yeah." "Now Alec listen to me," he wiped his eyes, "You are not overweight. Your at a perfect body weight for your height." Alec nodded as he started to cry. I rubbed his shoulder and he pulled away. "Can you leave?" I nodded and sighed, I grabbed my jacket and went back to everyone else. "Is Alec alright?" Lucky asked as I sat back down beside him. "He'll be okay."
