The mages stopped whatever they were doing and kept staring at the door. Erza is back! Erza... The name reverberated in the air like an agonizing spell. Everyone seemed to be afraid of Erza more than the ghost who dwelled the second floor. Who is this Erza?
"Erza is big, very big. She can break a mountain with a single kick. She's the strongest woman mage in Fairy Tail," Happy said nonchalantly. He seemed to be the only creature that wasn't afraid of Erza. Perhaps Erza's spell didn't affect a cat. "Also Lucy, Erza has wings!"
A woman mage with wings? Is this Erza a sort of half-monster? Lucy didn't even dare ask.
There was a long tenure of silence. Basically, one couldn't find the word silence in any single dictionary in the library of Fairy Tail. Not until the appearance of Erza. Tic. Toc. Still silence. Until Lucy heard it. Clanking of metal boots. Loud and steady. The sound like a marching of a soldier.
"That's the sound of Erza's footsteps," someone whispered.
Natsu and Gray embraced each other, shivering as if the footsteps were torturing their souls. Lucy gawked at them. She'd never seen the ever boisterous Natsu this frightened before.
Happy flew around them, babbling something like, "Aren't you both going to fight?"
With heightening curiosity, Lucy glued her eyes to the entrance. A shadow showed up. It sure was huge. Clank. Clank. Clank. The shadow marched into the assembly hall, taking the form of a woman with long, scarlet hair. She wore silver chain-mail above a blue mini-skirt, with her black metal boots pulled up to her knees. Swords flanked her sides with dignity. Lucy had never known that armour suit could be worn this way. This woman in front of her, Erza, was perhaps the only woman that could be chic and handsome at the same time. Then, Lucy realized it. Erza was actually about her size. But that triangular thing she held above her head was really big.
Lucy stood on tiptoes, craning her head over the mages' to have a better view of the object. A red ribbon snaked around the tip. Drawn horizontally across the steely surface was Chris Hemsworth's signature. Erza put that triangular object on the floor with a loud thud. The impact resulted in tables and chairs leaping aside, literally. Her molten-gold eyeballs scanned the crowds back and fro, for a time too long, before she decided to break the silence.
"I'm back. How is everyone doing?" She sounded like a general asking her comrades after a long war.
"We're fine, Erza. Welcome home," Mirajane greeted Erza with her trademark smile.
"Where's Master? I have something to report to him."
"Master is at the Regular Meeting at Clover Town with the head of each guild. He won't be back after three days."
"Hmm..." Erza closed her eyes, thinking deeply. The brief seconds of silence were tormenting.
"Erza... What-- What's that triangular object that you brought back?" asked a male mage whom Lucy had yet to speak to.
"It's the horn of a monster that I slew. The villagers decorated it and gave it to me as a souvenir." Her gaze latching onto him as she continued in a cold voice, "Why? Does it trouble you?"
"No... Not at all. It-- It's very beautiful."
The horn of a monster? It was as huge as a truck. And Erza carried it all the way back to Fairy Tail!
Erza harrumphed and then her scoldings came tumbling down like a nine-hundred-meter tall of a waterfall. "I heard rumours while traveling, about Fairy Tail causing troubles again. Even Master keeps forgiving you, I won't." Her eyes, like those of an eagle's, landed on the best drinker in Fairy Tail. "Kana, in what manners are you drinking! Nabu, stop pacing and get a job! Wakaba, smoke outside! Makao!" She paused, torturing her audience about what she was about to say.
