"What's the matter, Natsu?" Lucy asked.
Natsu replied with ballooned cheeks as if he was going to throw up.
Happy hopped onto the passenger seat. "Natsu can't handle traveling in any kind of vehicles."
"That's just... Even at the thought of it? BAHAHAHAHA!"
"E-- Evil Luigy..." Natsu glared at Lucy before flopping down on the floor by the main entrance.
Lucy beamed at him, and couldn't help but feel happier. Fairy Tail, my new home. She was sure that she could sleep sweet and sound from today onward, cocooned in the sense of security. Aunt Marge, Snowball, please give me your strength. Soon, we'll meet again.
That night, Lucy stayed over at the female dormitory. She lay in her four-poster bed and brought out the book which Mirajane had given her. As she caressed the leathery cover, a pearl-white bookmark with golden brims appeared. On it, written in a gold fancy script, was Fairy Tail's motto, In Love, We Live. Dazzled by the magic, she flipped over the book cover; the bookmark halted in mid-air on whichever page that Lucy's fingers had landed.
On the dedication page, the words, For all the Soul Travelers, molded in gold, shone at her.
Lucy then scanned through the Table of Contents and began reading in a low whisper. "Chapter One, Introduction to the Path of Light and the Stellar World. Chapter Two, Discovering the Abilities and Soul Traveling Concept. Chapter Three..."
She tried to concentrate, but the words did some amazing somersaults in front of her. Exhaustion from the long day began to impact her mind and body. Lucy closed the book and placed it next to her pillow. Laying on the bed, staring at the ceiling, she rehearsed the happenings of the day. Why would Master look at her with deep remorse? Why would the elder mages regard her as if they were shocked to see her? Why was there a ghost in Fairy Tail?
Messy thoughts rammed at the walls of her brain. Lucy gave up thinking and closed her eyes. Soon, she fell asleep and knitted a weird dream. She was climbing an ivory spiral staircase up to the blue sky, with Happy flying behind her. At the end of the staircase, a golden door stood. A bunch of keys was being hung around the knob. Lucy grabbed the keys and turned the knob. It was unlocked. The duo entered through the door and to their surprise, they were floating in an inky black sky. A trail of stardust appeared and it carpeted Lucy's feet. Gingerly, she walked through it. A dozen of mirrors soon materialized, with many versions of Cloned Lucys in them.
"Lucy, your souls are being captured inside those glasses!" Happy gasped.
"My souls?" Lucy checked her body. It still felt solid. "Wait a minute, they look like my memories." She scanned the surroundings with heightening curiosity and suspicion. The tiny hairs on the back of her neck stiffened with anticipation, while anxiety filled her senses.
The mirror at the far left showed Lucy smiling heartily while she fed Snowball her favourite chicken wing. Blimey, Snowball's saliva had even wet her dress! Then, another mirror reflected Lucy's guilty look, when she was scolded by Aunt Marge after setting fire to the Thanksgiving dinner that was almost done cooking in the oven. Lucy was punished to clear up the mess for almost two hours. Slightly to the middle, Lucy was hugging Natsu.
"I told you, Lucy, you like Natsu."
"Shut up!" Lucy pinched Happy's cheeks, and her action immediately appeared in a mirror.
"This place is creepy, Lucy, let's get out of here!"
Above them, lightning slashed, thunder clapped. Suddenly, the mirrors rippled.
