CHAPTER 23

SAMANTHA's POV

Tumingin ako kay Trev at nakatingin lang siya sa bata, who I guessed is his sister. Nakita ko ang mga mata ni Trev.. Puno ito ng kalungkutan! He seemed so sad while staring at her sister!

Why did you even brought me here, Trev! Nasaktan ko pa tuloy ang kapatid mo!

Lumambot ang ekspresyon ko while looking at the girl. "Your name is Kitty, right?" mahina kong tanong. Tumango lang siya habang nakatingin pa din sa akin. She even touched my cheek! "I'm sorry, Sweetie but I'm not your Ate Lyka. my name is Samantha, and I am a friend of your brother."

"No! That's a lie! Why did you even come back and then you are just going to lie to me?!" sigaw pa nito at lalong nag-iiyak. As if she couldn't bear looking at me anymore, nagtatakbo ang bata at naiwan akong natigagal dahil sa reaksyon niya.

I didn't expect that to happen!

Nakaluhod pa din ako when I felt a light touch on my shoulder. Napapitlag ako. Trev reached out his hand to help get me up. "Don't beat yourself up, Sam. I will talk to my sister. She really took it hard when Lyka left." mahinang sabi ni Trev.Tumango naman ako para sabihing sundan niya na ang kapatid niya.

Sinundan agad ni Trev si Kitty habang naiwan naman akong nanlulumo. I felt something tight in my chest when I saw Kitty cried so hard. She must be hurting! For some reason, I don't want to see her sad and crying.

Maya maya lang ay may narinig akong nagbukas ng sliding door papunta sa balcony kung saan ako nakaupo. Nakita ko si Marcus na papalapit at pasipol-sipol pa. Kasunod niya si Maine. Seriously, hindi ba talaga sila? They really looked good together!

Ang lapad ng ngiti ni Maine pagkakita sa akin, "Samantha! It's so lovely seeing you here! I was about to call you para bisitahin ka namin ni Marcus," niyakap niya agad ako ng mahigpit. She looks like she is really excited to see me! Nakakataba ng puso!

"Hi, Maine! Trev brought me here. Libre tour daw! I didn't expect to end up here, too," sabi ko habang nakangiti kay Maine. Lumingon naman ako kay Marcus at pinanlisikan ko siya ng mata. "And Marcus, why did you refuse to accompany Kitty sa town? Nakita niya tuloy ako! She thought I was Lyka and now she is very upset and crying!" paninisi ko pa dito. Not like it was his fault, really.. Pero I just need someone to blame at this moment.. Kasi bakit parang ako yung nagi-guilty?!

"Whoa! Easy, Sam! I already promised Maine na sasamahan ko siya. I am a man who is true to his words. I'm sorry but I don't break promises," nakataas pa ang dalawang kamay ni Marcus habang parang pinagtatanggol ang sarili from me. "At saka sooner or later makikilala ka din ni Kitty. There's no such thing as right time, Sam."

Tama nga siya. Pasasaan ba ay kailangan din namin magharap ng kapatid ni Trev. It would be the same reaction, nevertheless.."I'm sorry, guys. I just feel bad para kay Kitty.. It must have been so hard.." my voice trailed.

Nagsalita si Maine na ikinagulat ko. "Losing Lyka was very difficult to all of us. Kahit ngayon, each of of us are still suffering. Hindi man namin ipinahahalata pero nasasaktan kaming lahat.." nakatungo ito at hindi nakaligtas sa akin ang pagkislap ng mga mata niya dahil sa nagbabadyang mga luha.

"I'm sorry, Maine.." I touched her hand pagkasabi ko nito. I really don't know what to say at that moment..

Why did Lyka leave these good people who obviously love her?

Bakit kinailangan niyang iwan sila when everyone seemed to respect and adore her very much?

She is so lucky to have friends who love her so much.. I can't remember having friends and I can't remember the feeling of being wanted.. Let alone, needed..

Bumalik si Trev kasama niya si Kitty. Tumango sa akin si Trev. Lumapit naman sa akin si Kitty at nahihiyang tumingin sa akin. She hugged me! "I'm sorry, Ate Sam. Kuya Trev explained everything to me. You can't blame me kasi you really look like my Ate Lyka. Are you sure na hindi mo siya kapatid? Maybe you are her long lost identical twin?!" namilog pa ang mata nito habang hawak pa rin niya ang magkabilang kamay ko at talagang sinisipat nito ang mukha ko.

Hindi ko mapigilan ang matawa. Pinaupo ko na lang siya sa kandungan ko habang hinihimas ko ang buhok niya. "I'm sure if I'm Lyka, I will tell you guys. Especially you, Kitty. Why? You are so sweet. I'm sure your Ate Lyka loves you so much!"

Napasinghot na naman ang bata na parang pinipigilan ang umiyak. Actually, lahat sila ay natigilan and they are just staring at me, wide-eyed.

"U-umn, bakit?" tanong ko na lamang sa kanila.

Si Kitty na lang ang sumagot. "Ganitong-ganito kasi si Ate Lyka. She always cuddle me on her lap. Your gestures and hers are really very similar," malungkot na sabi nito sa akin. Bigla itong tumayo from my lap. She probably misses her so much.

"I'm sorry, guys.." natigilan ako. "I don't know what to say. It seemed like I'm just bringing so much memories of her to you guys. Hindi ko sinasadya.."

Ngumiti si Trev and reached out for my hand. "Hey, don't worry, Sam! We are very sorry, too. We couldn't help but remember her through you."

Mapait akong ngumiti. Biglang tumunog ang cellphone ko. Trev let go of my hand as I reached out for my phone.

"Hello.."

"Yes, Mum?"..

"Talaga po?! I will be there, right away, Mum!" namilog ang mga mata habang dali-daling pinindot ang end call button.

"What happened, Sam?" tanong ni Maine. They are all looking at me with strange expression on their faces..

Biglang sumilay ang napakatamis na ngiti sa labi ko. This is the best day of my life!

"M-my brother.."

"He just woke up.."
