Itachi's POV
"Oi! Itachi! Get up! What the hell happened here?!" I was half awakened by a screaming ninja.
I suddenly remembered our horrible loss to the three root ninja. Yuyan was no longer there, they took her and we failed.
I lied on the floor looking up towards the cieling feeling numb and emotionless. I got up to a seating position and felt a liquidy sensation on my fingers. Looking down, I realized it was her blood.
"Dammit! What kind of leader and sensei am I?!" I heard Hisui's voice. He was on his knees smashing the ground with his fists, the blood splashing in his face and clothes. Kakashi was trying to hide his anger and sadness with a hand on his face. Kiyoko was in another corner with a jounin trying to comfort her.
It was embarrassing how bad we failed. How would the village and my father feel about all of this? We failed so bad I doubt anyone would want to see us. All of us could have taken those root ninja, but they outsmarted us with such a basic plan.
"Come on we have to go back to the village and report this to the police force and the Hokage."
We stayed in our positions for a little while longer then began walking out the laboratory. Kakashi, Hisui, Kiyoko and I took one final look at the metal pole, the blood, and the ropes that had binded her. I knew we all thought the same thing:
"We failed."
The four of us proceeded to the exit not saying a word or even looking at each other. We met with the rest of the squad outside to see their disappointed faces as they reacted to our saddened faces.
"We'll return to Konoha, our mission was unsuccessful!" Hisui announced sadly.
"What exactly happened in there?"
"I'LL TELL YOU WHAT HAPPENED WE WERE AMBUSHED BY-" Hisui began to scream but his body tensed up and he fell flat on the ground. He tried to talk more but wasn't able to. He pretty much looked like an idiot.
"Let's just go home, I'll report to my father and the Hokage once we get there, someone take Hisui he won't be able to move for a while."
A random ninja put Hisui on his back. We all jumped back into the forest and begun to make our way home. Kakashi, Kiyoko, and I were ahead of the whole group not really wanting people to see our faces or ask us any questions. I'm sure they caught on to that because they didn't bother to make any noise whatsoever. It was the greatest disappointment of my life. We failed the mission and worst of all failed to retrieve Yuyan who was almost dead.
I kept picturing her tied to that metal post. All those giant pieces of wood coming out of her back, blood everywhere, I wonder how she wasn't dead because of all that.
Thinking about this I felt a sudden churn at my stomach. It felt as if my whole stomach just turned upsidedown and I felt like...
"Itachi what's wro- woah are you okay?!"
throwing up. All those thoughts of Yuyan had made my stomach feel horrible. I fell on my knees, panting.
"Itachi! Are you okay?" Kiyoko ran towards me with a worried voice. I probably couldn't say I was fine because she'd punch me if I lied to her. I also didn't want to say I wasn't because she'd only get worried.
"U-umm I'll be fine let's just keep going I needed to let that out." Her eyes narrowed at me with a suspicious look. Kiyoko was always a little scary and hotheaded, I had to use my words carefully around her.
"You can drop the facade of yours, we all know you're not actually okay." she spoke.
I can see through that facade of yours!
