"It has long been an axiom of mine that the little things are infinitely the most important."
- Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in 'The Memories of Sherlock Holmes'________________________
I walked with Joe, with Mark leading the way, towards their table, which not to my surprise, was smack in the middle of the cafeteria. Mark was the most popular boy as he had the looks was the soccer team captain and his position was in midfield. He was the best midfielder our team had had since a long time.
As we neared the table, I observed that today the attention was not directed towards Mark.
Everybody was staring at some guy sitting at their table, I couldn't see his face due to someone's head blocking my view. He seemed to have attracted the attention of the female population the most, some guys were also staring at him in what seemed like envy.
We finally reached their table. It was the table of the soccer players. So of course 11 boys were seated there. It was the largest table in the cafeteria.
I started to become nervous but I mentally gave myself a speech that I had to eat my food and that I was doing this for food and that there was no harm in sitting there that I could just ignore everyone and focus on my dear food.
Yeah, this convinced me.I decided that I had to at least try to be a little less of my socially awkward self.
"Hey everyone, meet Camilla and...--" Mark looked towards Joe questioningly.
"Joe," she prompted.
"Oh! So everybody meet Camilla and Joe. They will sit on our table from now onwards," I was shocked as I had only agreed for today, but never mind I can always leave whenever I want.
When Mark was speaking my eyes were solely on him and now I waved my hand awkwardly towards the people at his table, everybody's faces seemed pretty friendly until I saw the face of the person in the middle.
Oh my god!
He is studying in our school now? Why? There are more expensive schools here, then why my school?
My hand stopped mid air and he seemed to notice my shock as he smirked.
"Don't open that mouth too large Cupcake, something might go in it," he spoke in his deep voice and winked.
I quickly closed my mouth in embarrassment,"Hey, you said that you wouldn't call me that if I told you my real name and if I remember correctly, I did."
"You don't like when I call you Cupcake, Camilla?" He asked in a serious tone.
I nodded my head.
"Ok then, Cupcake," he said smirking, stressing on Cupcake.
I huffed in annoyance and decided to ignore him.
I looked around to see that everyone in the cafeteria was watching me intently. I began to become uncomfortable.
To my relief, Mark yelled, "Get a life, ya people," and everybody returned to eating their food and chatting with friends.
I smiled thankfully towards Mark and he just waved his hand like it was nothing. He looked curiously between me and Adrian, but then proceeded to take a seat at the table signalling for us to do the same.
I sat between Mark and Joe, and Mark started introducing everyone to us. No one seemed to mind us being at their table and I was thankful for that, I had thought that I wouldn't be welcomed here.
