___________________I walked up to the door of my house, well more like a mansion, after saying goodbye to Millie. I liked my house with its white exterior and a huge lawn in front of it with a broken swing at the far corner that held too many memories, and also a fountain, this house had a large indoor swimming pool. Speaking of indoor, this mansion had an even more exquisite interior. I loved it, yeah, but there is a huge difference between loving the appearance and loving how it feels to be in that house. Can I call it a home?
I rung the doorbell as I had forgotten my keys inside the house today. Miss Binns opened the door for me with a tired smile on her face. I greeted her and gave her a hug.
Miss Binns was a gentle, fragile little soul of 57 years who had decided not to marry again in her life after her love hurt her, she had been working in my family for as long as I can remember. She has always been anything but kind and patient. Sometimes when I get bored I would talk to her, she was quite fun and also gave excellent advice on almost everything.
I went past her and entered into the the living room. The red and white curtains around the walls greeted me, no.. wait a second.. I can here voices, people's voices. How are there people in my house? My twin brother, Lewis, could not be here as today is a Saturday and he always has plans on Saturday, its 7 pm already and I wouldn't be surprised to know if he has caught his hook up for tonight. Gross.
Jules began speaking(I call Miss Binns, Jules as she insists upon it), "I am sorry Camilla I forgot to inform you that-"
"Oh, so you are finally here!" I heard, what? My mother's voice?!
I turned my face and surely, there she was in a sleek navy blue gown and her best jewellery, descending the stairs, no one could say that she was a 43 year old woman. When did she arrive? And where is she going? Not that I bother, she keeps going to business parties as she keeps saying 'keep your friends close and enemies closer'.
"Yeah, I guess I am." I replied her with a forced smile. I then nodded towards her and prepared to go upstairs, past her, when she said something that made me freeze mid step.
"Get ready for the party, wear the black dress I have set upon your bed and do your makeup and hair properly. You don't wanna look bad tonight." My mother said to me, how can she possibly do that?
She has just come back from a 2 week trip of London, she didn't even greet me and now she is asking me to go with her to a party? And of course a business one. She knows how much I hate them. They are filled with fake people who just pretend to be someone who they are not, to please everyone. Even their laughs seem fake.
"What are you saying, Mom?" I asked her as I turned around to face her.
"I am saying that you are coming to this party which the owner of Hunt Enterprises is throwing as a celebration of achieving the top rank of Real Estate agencies, " my Mom stated. Hhmm..The Hunt Enterprises... I don't know why, but the surname hunt always rang something in my mind, but every time I try to think, nothing comes up.
" But-" I started to protest.
"No buts, you heard me," her words seemed final, though my relationship with Mom was not quite a good one but still, I somewhat respected her.
