"Adam," Elisha called down the hallway of their Manhattan apartment, her voice echoing off of the walls. Elisha looked up at the clock of the wall and it read 2:30 AM. "Come in here please."
Adam's footsteps echoed down the hallway followed by a slight laughter from him. Elisha heard could hear it and she cracks her own smile as he leaned against the bathroom door frame, crossing his arms.
"What now," he said with a smile that even his thick beard couldn't hide.
Elisha gave him a grin and picked the scissors up off of the sink, raising her eyebrow at him.
"Oh no," Adam said, stepping back. "I'm not letting you-"
"Oh shut up, Adam," Elisha laughed, setting the scissors back into the countertop. "You've been looking more like a mountain ranger lately than my boyfriend."
Adam walked to her and wrapped his arms around her waist. Elisha connected her wrists at the back of his neck and stared into his eyes.
"Maybe I like the mountain ranger look, have you thought of that one babe?" He laughed, something that always made Elisha's heart fall more in love with him.
"No, it's not by your choice," she laughed, playing with the ends of his hair that was reaching the base of his neck. "This is the outcome of endless nights in the studio with Jack and Ryan."
"If you think I'm bad, you should see Ryan," he laughed. "The man might actually be growing a beard right now trying to get this album done."
"Well, I think giving you a fresh cut will make everything fall into place," she said, looking up at him. Adam gave her a confused look. "Please?" She pouted.
"Fine," He said, holding his hands up in surrender. "But please don't give me a Mohawk, Elisha."
"Babe, I'm the one that has to be seen out in public with you," Elisha laughed. "I think I would be the one suffering from the Mohawk situation. Now sit."
She pointed to the toilet by the sink and Adam sat down on the lid, folding his hands in his lap with a sigh. Elisha picked up her comb and the scissors and started snipping away at the ends of his hair.
"I think a good question to ask is if you've ever done this before," Adam laughed but Elisha grabbed his cheeks and moved his face back to the starting position.
"Don't move unless you want blood pouring from your head," Elisha said laughing, grabbing at the piece of hair. "And yes I have done this before, many times."
"When?" Adam asked, trying his hardest not to move his head even then slightest bit.
"When I was younger," Elisha explained, getting faster at the cut. Adam's dark brown locks fell to the tile of the bathroom in a little circle. "I used to always cut my sibling's and cousin's hair. My mom taught me at a very young age and at the beginning of every month we would all get the ends trimmed up."
"Huh," Adam said smiling, his neck straining from being in the same position for so long. "I learn something new about you everyday, love."
Elisha set down the clippers and knelt down in front of Adam, cupping his cheeks in her palms.
"And you, my love, amaze me everyday," she smiled and gave him a kiss, his mustache tickling her upper lip like it always did. "And will never cease to. Now, let's get this beard trimmed."
"I'm putting a lot of faith into you, Elisha," Adam laughed as she turned the clippers on and got closer to his face. "I don't want to go back to baby face."
"But baby face Adam would be so cute," Elisha fake pouted as she started to trim and frame his beard, getting her sarcasm across. "I'm kidding, love. Even if I accidentally shaved half of it off, you would somehow rock it."
"Oh, so you won't go out in public with me in a Mohawk, but with half of my beard, is that the case?" He laughed, giving his words some sass like he always did.
"Hey, I'm not the one with clippers at his throat right now," Elisha laughed, quickly taking them away from him.
She turned off the clippers as Adam pulled her closer to him, him holding her shoulders in his strong hands. Their lips touched softly, the mustache's ends not tickling as much since they had been trimmed.
"You have really made getting my haircut fun, huh?" Adam asked, resting his forehead on hers and looking into her eyes.
"All it takes us a little laughter," she smiled at him.
"And love," He laughed and planted a kiss on her forehead. He stood up from the toilet seat and looked into the mirror, playing with the sides of his hair. "You were right babe."
"Huh?" Elisha asked as she packed up the grooming supplies.
"The whole mountain ranger look wasn't for me," he said, fluffing the sides of his hair to his liking. "I like this 'my girlfriend cut my hair in our bathroom at 3 am' look I've got going on right now."
"I'm glad," Elisha said, stretching on her tipping toes to plant a kiss on Adam's cheek. She went to leave the bathroom but Adam's arms wrapped around her waist, causing her to let out a help of laughter as he spun her around back into the bathroom. "Adam!"
"What?" He laughed as he spun her, setting her in the ground gently. "It's your turn now."
Adam picked up the scissors off of the counter and gave them a few snips in the air.
"Oh no," Elisha said, holding up get index finger to wave it back and forth in his face. "I am not letting you touch my hair."
"But it's only fair," Adam said holding up his hands after he set the scissors back down. "I don't make the rules here."
"No!" Elisha yelped and made a mad dash out of the bathroom door towards their bedroom. Adam laughed and chased her down, calling out to her as they ran throughout the apartment.
They knew all too well that in the morning when they went for their mail that the neighbors would complain about the loudness of them chasing each other all night.
