*Samuel's Point Of View*
"What's good Dami?"
"Hey Sam, is Trey here?"
"Yeah in the living room, come in."
As she took off her coat and handed it to me, she asked: "Do you know why he called us here?"
"Yeah but its not my place to say."
"Oh alright, who else is coming? I saw Ash at the bus stop."
"Ash, Khayla and baby Leah."
"Why did I even agree to come? I don't want to be here with THOSE people!"
"Well you have no choice."
I guided her into the living room where the door was previously shut. The blinds were closed giving the room an erry sense of darkness which wasn't helped by Trey's sombre expression. He looked as though he were lifeless, a man broken because of the trials of life yet he was pondering as though lost. The light behind his eyes had gone and the previous happy figure faded. A cigarette attached to his mouth, the orange glow at the end the only colourful part of his.
"Trey." Dami said softly whilst sitting down in one of the three armchairs available. Trey removed the cigarette puffing out and gave a head jerk as though to give a unique hi.
Dami was followed by Ash and finally Khayla in terms of arrival each to receive the same treatment as the last. Baby Leah was out of the room in the care of my mum. All of the three in question sat on the other side of the room as though not wishing to get involved with Trey or his glum mood. Not even Khayla dared to understand him. She chose to ignore like we all did.
Of course I knew the truth though which was my advantage in this game of sorts.
"Trey, what's going on babe, you have me all worried about you!" Khayla finally said breaking the silence.
"How could you leave me in the dark about her child? Why didn't you tell me that you knew? Why didn't you let me know?"
He was referring to the dark cloud that had been circling his head for a while. Dami had been pregnant.
As disbelief covered Khayla's face, she quickly masked it with upset.
"I couldn't."
"Why?" Trey looked up from the darkness allowing the white of his eyes to show through. Tears steaming from them.
"You wasn't growing up Trey. Through this....."
"Through making me think that I lost a child." He interrupted her.
"To make you appreciate Leah."
"I would appreciate Leah regardless of what happened. Why couldn't you just tell me Dami's child wasn't mine?"
"Because it was made worse by the fact that the child is ASH'S!"
As the ordeal went on, Ash looked increasingly uncomfortable which caused him to twitch and play with his fingers.
"What?"
"I need to go!" Ash rushed out the room slamming the door behind him. In the seconds between him leaving and the abrupt end to the conversation - tension covered us all. Finally Khayla joined Ash outside screwing up her face to Trey as she passed him. Trey said nothing apart from "Typical."
All that was left was heartache, Dami and the darkness.
*Khayla's Point Of View*
"Ash, you alright?"
"Yeah yeah."
I could see his face fixed with anger and anguish.
"Trey will talk to us again you know."
"What about you and Leah?" He said quietly.
"Trey will properly move out."
"Are you going to be okay?"
"Ash, will you be?"
I placed my hand on his.
*Dami's Point Of View*
As both Khayla and Ash had left the room, both the whites of Trey's eyes flicked up to me.
"I wanted us to be together." My honesty came unravelled through the sulkiness in them.
"You knew that wasn't going to happen."
"Why can't it?"
I stood up from my seat and walked over to his. Not even looking at me once he moved from sofa to another as though he sensed my presence. He knew that he couldn't win so he moved.
"Why can't we talk?"
"Why do you have to be next to me to do so?"
"I just want to know what this is about."
"Simple. I've lived a lie for almost a year and no one seems to take notice of that major fact. My conscience has been burning with the guilt. I thought Khayla wouldn't know and I could live with it."
"I didn't mean to lie."
"But you did."
"I didn't want to hurt you,"
"You did! You all knew that I was in the dark and never told me."
'Because of the repercussions."
"What repercussions could hurt you all more then me thinking I lost a child?"
"Us losing you."
"Well now you have."
Trey got up and walked out leaving me and Sam in the room alone.
*Trey's Point Of View*
"Trey! Wait!"
Khayla was running after me but I didn't look back - I had to keep walking forward. I don't want to look back now.
"Trey, please."
I glanced back at the tears streaming down her face and I knew how to break her further and quite simply.
"Thanks for loving me." I replied as calmly as ever.
