Chapter 42: A Maids Pot And A Mage's Seal

    So sorry about the delay everyone I've been really busy lately...  I hope this would help cover for my lapses

                                  Kelvin's eyes remained shut as he listened to the environment around him carefully, he could feel Edda closing in. He grabbed her arm tightly to stop her,  and her eyes sprung open, she looked into his eyes, and realized he wasn't falling for it. He opened his eyes
"what? ". Edda blinked at Kelvin surprised. Kelvin shook his head and sighed.
"it's not that" 
"well then...  What is it"
"someone's coming " Kelvin replied
" what?... How do you k... "
A knock on the door interrupted her, " of course you could hear that " she sighed remembering his abilities as she went for the door.

She unlocked it and the door creaked open, Ava stumbled in and shut the door behind her. Panting heavily.
" soldiers"   she said,  breathlessly
"what? " Edda exclaimed
" soldiers..." she repeated... " Outside in the village "
" what flags we're they flying " Kelvin asked
" i don't know any flags but Strolgar's"
"what color..." Kelvin inquired
"red" she replied
"they are outside as we speak " she added
Kelvin and Edda immediately rushed to the window,  and there they were, numbering over twenty, heavily armed."  Duncan "  Kelvin scowled

" where are the others " Edda asked
" downstairs in the hall" Ava replied
"do they know? "   Ava just nodded her response and continued looking out the window
" so what do we do " Edda asked
" you stay here " Kelvin said,  bursting out of the room and down the stairs into the hall,  Edda and Ava trailing behind.  He reached the hall and found the others at the windows too, though hidden well enough to avoid detection

He joined Marcus and Vulcan at one,  and noticed the old village head standing before the soldiers, no one could make out the words they we're saying, so they waited patiently for something to happen.
The old man spoke for an unending number of minutes with the captain.  At a point the soldier wanted to move towards the house,  but was blocked by the old man's staff and a few sentences that made him change his mind.
A couple of minutes after, the soldiers turned and left at the captain's order. The village head made sure they were out of sight before he returned into the hall.

After shutting the door behind him,  he lit a candle, only to see the squad looking expectantly at him, what was that about Levi asked...
The old man placed the candle on the counter then made his way to a seat.
"turns out the king got my letters " he began " he sent the calvary fifty men strong... "
" so what did you tell them" Ivan inquired
"that a band of mercenaries killed the ogres "  he replied blankly
Kelvin and a few others sighed instantly...  These same soldiers were part of the army that took out the mercenaries.

Everyone exchanged glances,  knowing full well what was coming... The soldiers would lurk around a little longer to know more about what happened and about the mystery heroes... Their time in the village was already up.
"ive got a plan,  and a big one at that... every one pack up, we leave before first light " Levi said dismissing them all.  They all left immediately, except he himself who sat with the old man to explain what exactly was happening.
" good thing... I told them you're all gone " he said with a sigh,  adjusting his sitting posture,  after Levi had explained it to him.
" I'm going to need a couple of things" Levi proposed
"say no more...  " I've got this

A couple of hours later the man led them to the back of the village where he had horses and a caravan full of provisions made ready for them.
" what? " Rava exclaimed when he saw the wagon...
" this was ur big plan? " he inquired turning to Levi...
"no obviously not"  he said, his expression also revealing his unbelief of what was before him
"looks pretty big to me " Vulcan cackled
" enough " Levi barked..." go Grab what you need  ",  provoking more chuckles around the squad.
