Unlike everyone else who was sitting in a chair or leaving the room, I sat on the counter; It wasn't anything I bothered about. Things were about to get busy, so I wasn't concerned with what is or isn't a chair.

"The evacuation would be a peaceful one," so I told myself. Just to be safe I was reloading my pistol. I fumbled with the weapon at hand for quite a while. I was so distracted by it that I almost didn't notice the green glow that scavenged the room. Only when I sensed extra movement did I realize it was time to go. I hid my gun away and slid off the counter. I was on my way.

"Virgil, you in?" Thomas questioned through the earpiece. "No, out...hold on." I pressed off my earpiece. I was indeed outside and at work. Thomas, Logan, and Remy were on the street sides like me, organizing the traffic and keeping an eye out. Roman and Patton were doing the same but from the rooftops.

"Hey, kiddo!" I heard Patton scream into my earpiece. I jumped in surprise, getting an amused look from Terrance, who stood nearby. I turned sharply to a wall "Patton, we talk through our earpieces for the last time. Please stop trying to call me from the rooftops."

"Haha! oh dang, sorry, Virgil."

"It's fine, just be cautious next time. I want to be alert, not deaf." I deadpanned. I spun back around to the scream of a horn. "Hold on!" I shouted, raising a hand to nearby traffic. The vehicles screeched to a halt. People tend to believe I only assisted in dangerous missions, but actually, a lot of missions were keeping the city under control and scoping out from the rooftops.

The next line of cars started rolling when my earpiece clicked once more. To my surprise, it was Remy. "Does anyone have eyes on Logan?"

-----

I stopped on the rooftops, tuning into the conversation.

"Does anyone have eyes on Logan?" Remy questioned. Moments later, Thomas buzzed in. "I haven't, I thought he was with you?" "Not anymore."

I picked up on the muffled crunch of broken concrete behind me. I lifted my head to the upcoming noise and started drawing my sword. "Hold on, Ro it's just me." MY shoulders fell with my sigh. I turned back to glance at the Pattonly perfect fatherly figure. "Ah! Hello Just Me, I'm Roman the magnificent." I joked.

Patton threw his hips to the side, resting his fists on his sides like a superhero. "While I do love the dad joke kiddo," Patton beamed. My friend always had the greatest smile. "I was wonderin' Ro, have yeah seen Logan?"

"Sadly no, I did spot him earlier. However, that was like five minutes ago."

Patton hummed in response, skipping between feet as he pondered through the situation. Down the street, I could still see the purple of Virgil's hair and the large bridge rising over a building behind him. We had been spending the day evacuating people, but there were many to go. Some were eager to flee from dangers while others were waiting until tomorrow or refusing to leave at all.

With such said, it was getting late. The sun was setting like the act on a play, closing it's light to the world. Despite the city conditions, the orange sun still brightened the mood. It captured many in a silhouette, which I absolutely adored.

Then I heard a boom in the distance, and a few more behind me. The orange of the sun quickly became the orange of flames.

-----

"What the hell?!" I heard Roman shout. I was standing behind him and rocking on my heels when the explosions went off. "Roman, Virgil, and squad A report to the bridge, IMMEDIATELY," Thomas stated. "Patton, hopefully Logan, and squad B and C, the gas stations have just been set a flame. Squad B and C, I want you leading civilians away from the fires. Patton and Logan, the firemen could use your assistance."
