I let go quickly and hopped off the bike. I wouldn't say it was scary, but I never wanted to ride that again.
"Roman! Virgil!" Remy called, approaching us from the left. The general acted quickly, pulling us to the side while gunshots rang across the street. "See that restaurant over there?" Remy threw a thumb behind him and I followed the direction to a restaurant across the street. I nodded in acknowledgment. "Me, Thomas, Joan, Terrance, and Talyn were having a fucking blast over there until gunfire rained in the streets. The focus is coming from the lab-"
"Remy!" A familiar voice said over the radio. "We can't get into the lab entrance, I-we're falling back!" The officer furrowed his brows together, picking up his radio and responding. "Thomas, dude, Roman, and Virgil have arrived on scene. Can you hold the line?"
Hold the line? I thought, how bad could it possibly be?
"They better be quick, we've got some unexpected threats arriving. And now Patton's with them!" "On the way!" Was Remy's final reply. He tucked his radio back and bolted past us. I was quick to follow, rushing into the battlefield.
Stepping onto the street was like stepping on a landmine. I was forced to be fast, but a punch in the face was unexpected. "Who are you?" I questioned, grabbing the hostile by the arm and flinging them backward. The stranger hit the ground with a hard thud, hitting their head on the asphalt and falling limp. The only thing that moved was a yellow eye that continued to twitch.
"Bang!" a bullet shot passed me and hit someone running towards me from the side. The bullet hit them in the forehead, sending the armed individual tumbling to the ground as well. Virgil was beside me a moment later, reloading his gun then tugging me onward.
"Roman, less staring, more running." He commented, before sprinting off in Remy's direction. I glanced down at the twitching yellow eyes once more, shivered, then followed Virgil in his footsteps.
Between me, Patton, Virgil, and Logan you'll find many similarities and differences. Fighting was one thing we all had strong thoughts on. For example, Virgil and Logan were pretty numb when it came to killing people, both had seen plenty of it. Logan's parents were killed in front of him during a break in when he was seven. His friend was kidnapped only a month later, never to be seen again. After that, he spent the rest of his childhood in a shady neighborhood with his uncle. Logan has no mercy or sympathy for people who broke the laws. As he puts it, he "Does what's required to get the job done."
Virgil was a bit different. His mother died of cancer, leaving him with a horrible father. A father who never loved or accepted him. Virge never talked too much about his past, so I didn't push him. Anyway, like Logan death was nothing new to him. Unlike Logan, Virgil only killed someone to save himself or others.
Patton, on the other hand, had a great childhood. His mom was a nurse and his father was a famous author, meaning he had a very stress free childhood. When Pat was first found and met Thomas, he refused to cooperate, worried he'd have to fight people. He'll fight now only if absolutely necessary and doesn't have the heart to kill people. The situation doesn't matter. If it was his life or a serial killer's, he'd rather die.
I myself was like Virgil, except my childhood wasn't tragic. You see, before this, I lived in the UK. My parents were close friends with the royal family so I was always treated like a prince. Hints my nickname, Princy. I was the only one that wasn't born in America, except Patton, but he was born in Canada.
"Shit!" I yelped, tripping over myself momentarily. "Dang I really need to pay attention, I choose life, thank you very much." I brushed myself off and fixed my hair before rolling away from one kick and grabbing another.
"Boom!" A burning vehicle beside me finally gave way, Blowing every direction but mainly upward. Fragments rained and a familiar officer pulled me away from the danger.
"Remy?" I asked, but the officer was only paying half attention. The clip of his pistol fell to the ground and he had another in before I could blink. "Remy!" I repeated, pulling out my sword. "What's going on!?"

Roman followed behind Virgil at a distance, seemingly caught up in his own thoughts.
"Bang!" Virgil narrowly dodged a bullet and ducked behind the entrance door to the lobby. He spotted ten people in the room, Remy, Thomas, Joan, another officer, and six threats. The response was quick and he targeted two threats, ducking low from around the entrance and firing two shots. One, Two shots rang out and accurately downed two people. The other four were also downed quickly, compliments of Joan and Thomas.
When the coast was clear Virgil tugged his sleeves down, eyes darting around the room anxiously as he got to my feet.
"VIRGILLLLL!!" Someone shouted, and the emo ducked just before his friend Roman, went crashing through the wall. The hero fell through the wall and slid across the marble floor, stopping only when he reached the other wall. The prince didn't stay down long and with Joan's help, he climbed back to his feet. The sword he once held clattered on the floor beside him.
Virgil was quick to follow, rounding the entrance and jogging for Thomas. Tap, tap, tap, feet rushed across the lobby. The steps were panicked and echoed in response. "Thomas, nice to see you in one piece."
The mentor chuckled weakly at the comment, rubbing the back of his neck like he was mimicking the hero in front of him. "Same goes for you-everyone get down!"
A rocket broke against the building's wall, kicking dust into the air. That's when Logan walked into the building.
