"Nigga where the fuck were you?" Taco asked T as he ran up the curb.
"Kali. Nigga we almost fucked. Her mom almost caught us—,"
"You was with Kali for that long?"
Tyler thought about Wyatt for a split second.
"Yeah nigga, where the fuck else would I be?" He spat back.
They talked for a while as they landed tricks in front of Taco's house.
"Yo, tomorrow night Jorja throwing a party. Her parents gone for the weekend. Y'all tryna come?" Rocky asked, sitting down on the curb. He pulled out a half smoked blunt.
"Hell yes nigga. What time?" Jasper interrupted.
"Like 8-9pm."
"We don't got anything better to do anyway." Taco replied, nudging Tyler.
...
The next morning came quick. It was Friday, and Tyler was excited for tonight. They haven't been to a house party in a minute. Tyler's phone buzzed in his first period class.
He checked it.i'm excited for tonight! see you at jorjas?? ;)
It was Kali.
yeah, we're pulling up
Tyler wrote back, hitting send. He sunk back into his seat, waiting for the bell to ring.
The teacher went on the rest of the period, lecturing about shit he didn't care about.
Once the bell rang, he sped out, meeting with Kali."Hey," He said, grabbing her waist from behind. She turned around, surprised. A smile on her face formed immediately as she reached up to place a kiss on him.
"How was first?" She asked.
"Fucking stupid. Boring as fuck. You?"
Kali laughed.
"Same."
He began to walk her to her next period, and for the first time, she reached her hand into his, intertwining them together.
He bit his lip, smiling at himself."Do you guys wanna pose for a picture in yearbook?"
A curly haired boy stopped Kali, and she immediately nodded, excited.
"Uh, I don't know–," Tyler hesitated.
"C'mon! our picture in yearbook as a couple! You don't think that's cute?" Kali begged him, pulling on his arm.
Tyler sighed, and then gave in.
"Okay!" Kali said excitedly.
The boy nodded, and it wasn't until he made eye contact with Tyler that they both realized who they were.
"Wyatt? You in yearbook?" Tyler asked, confused.
"Yeah. Um, I'll countdown." Wyatt paused, biting his bottom lip as he placed the camera up to his face, "1, 2, 3!" He said, snapping the picture.
A simple picture of Kali placing a kiss on T's cheek as a side grin played on his lips.
"Thanks." Wyatt said, smiling at Kali, before eyeing Tyler. He moved past him, the opposite direction.
"Oh! You're a photographer right?" Kali asked Wyatt before he left.
"Yeah, I'm in journalism and yearbook." He said.
"You got anything to do tonight?" She asked.
"Uhh..."
"We're throwing a party tonight and Jorja wanted someone to take pictures there. We don't have a fancy camera like that so..."
"You want me? At your house party?" Wyatt's confused expression made her laugh.
"Yeah. To take pictures, duh."
"Kali, I don't know about that—," Tyler began, but she cut him off.
"I'll pay you $50 for the night."
Wyatt's eyes widened.
"See you there then!" She smiled, Wyatt hadn't even replied.
Tyler sighed, knowing Rocky and his friends would probably clown Wyatt the entire time.
They walked away, and Wyatt walked the opposite direction.
"That shit better be a good idea." Tyler whispered to Kali.
"Oh, trust me, it will."
...
Lunch happened, and they were all talking about the party. Basically everyone knew about it, and Jorja had no problem letting every popular kid know to come through. It was going to be massive.
"Nigga, her house is fucking big. I seen that shit. It has a fucking staircase." Taco laughed. They sat inside the cafeteria.
"Her dad rich as fuck. That's why she lives all the way on the other side of Hawthorne." Rocky said, taking a sip of his drink.
"Nigga you stupid. How the fuck are we gonna get to her party then?" Taco nudged Rocky.
"It's cool. My cousin letting me borrow his car. We meeting up at mines."
Tyler debated on whether or not it was a good idea to let them know about Wyatt being there.
"Y'all know Kali hired a photographer for that shit? That's so stupid." Tyler laughed.
"A photographer? Nigga we going to them rich people parties!" Jasper said. Everyone laughed.
Tyler decided to keep it under wraps.
The lunch bell rung, and they got up, making their way to class.
...
Tyler walked inside art class just before the late bell rang. Wyatt was already sitting there.
"You going to the party tonight?" Tyler asked Wyatt, remembering he hadn't replied to Kali.
"Why do you care?" Wyatt turned to him.
"Just asking, damn."
"I don't know yet." He sighed, tapping his pencil on the edge of the desk.
Tyler nodded knowingly.
"I didn't know you were dating her," Wyatt said suddenly, catching T off guard.
"Yeah, we are. Why? You got a crush on her?" Tyler teased.
"No! I was just asking." Wyatt bit his lip, looking back into his sketchbook. His cheeks turned red.
Tyler let out a small laugh, putting his hands into his pockets as he sank into his chair.
