A day before the dance, and Tyler was still hesitant to go.
"Jorja said she's down. I'm hype." Rocky said, they all sat around the lunch table.
"I got Melanie to go with me, Jasper got Jenna." Taco laughed.
"Jenna? The crazy white bitch in our science?" Tyler asked.
"Nigga everyone else is taken!" Jasper laughed.
"What about you? You asking Kali?" Rocky asked.
Tyler shrugged, "Heard she was going with her friends. I think we're really over. She hasn't talked to me at all."
"That's cus you don't wanna go talk to her, stupid ass." Lionel came over, sitting down with his lunch tray.
"Fuck, I'll just go with you then nigga!" Tyler punched Lionel, laughing.
"Hell nah! I got myself a date too. Y'all know Jasmine? She asked if I was going with anyone this morning."
"Damn nigga, you too? Fuck." Tyler sighed, annoyed.
"Nigga look," Rocky pointed at Bella, nudging Tyler.
She had her eyes set on Tyler.
"Goddamn! I ain't ever see her look at someone like that, the fuck?" Taco laughed.
"YOU FUCKED HER DIDN'T YOU?" Taco jumped on Tyler, everyone turning to look towards them.
Tyler laughed.
"Why didn't you tell us!" Taco exclaimed.
"It's whatever—,"
"Then why don't you go with her? Duh!" Lionel laughed.
"Fuck, I guess."

Tyler walked to his art class, earbuds in as he turned the corner.
Wyatt stood by the door, talking to the same girl he's been hanging out with. When the late bell rang, she pulled him in for a kiss, quickly pulling away as she said goodbye to him. Wyatt looked at her leave, then turned around to face Tyler.
"Guess i'm going to the dance." Wyatt said.
"With her?"
"Yeah, she asked me during lunch."
"So y'all dating now huh?" Tyler asked, his eyes trailing Wyatt's face.
"I guess so."
...
"Are you going to ask me or am I going to have to ask you?" Bella and Tyler talked after class was over.
He could sense his Rocky and them watching their every move from the corner of his eye.
"You wanna go to the dance with me?" Tyler asked, his hand landing on her hip. She placed her arms around his neck.
"Thought you'd never ask." She placed a kiss on his lips.
"You know Kali's going with that jock, Chris I think. He asked her during first period."
Tyler licked his lips, looking away.
"I don't even care anymore, to be honest."
"Good. You have me now," She smiled, kissing him again before leaving.
Tyler watched her leave, then felt Taco jump on his back, everyone crowding around him as they laughed and joked.
"Now you got a date too nigga!" Taco exclaimed.
"This shit better be fun."
