Astrid's POV

February 3rd/ junior year

I step into the cool air of my bathroom and shiver. I quickly dry myself and step into my room. I start to brush and dry my hair.

After drying my hair I decided to go with a maroon sweater and black ripped jeans with some maroon converse to match. My long hair up in a high ponytail and call it good enough.

I look in my mirror and put on some mascara and some highlight on the bulb of my nose. I take a step back and observe myself. My sweater looks a bit big but I didn't have time to change.

I run up the stairs and see my dad cooking.
"Morning dad," I say grabbing a plate to grab some food.

"Good morning Astrid," he replies not taking his eyes off the egg on the stove.

I go to grab a piece of bacon and he smacks my hand," that's my bacon, make your own."

I smile and roll my eyes," I would but you're hogging the stove and I have to leave soon."

He looks at me from the corner of his eyes. He fixes his glasses and sighs," fine, you can have my bacon."
I smile and grab a few pieces and make some toast while I munch on it. I check my watch and see that it's 07:10 (7:10am).
"Oh shoot I gotta go!" I shout running back to my room.
I grab my phone off the charger and grab my bag off the chair and run back up the stairs.

"See ya dad," I shout running out the door.

"See ya Astrid! Be home before dinner!"he shouts back.

I jump in the bronco and start backing out of the driveway I notice something fall in the corner of my rear view mirror and slam on my breaks. I put the bronco in park and got out to see what it was. As I got to the back of the truck  I noticed a guy sitting on the ground breathing heavily.

Holy shit I almost hit this guy

"Oh gods are you ok?" I say leaning down to help them and see if they are ok.

"Um yeah.." he said with a shake in his voice.

I look up to meet his gaze. My breath hitches when I make eye contact with him.

His eyes were a emerald green, they were warm and calming. He had messy auburn hair that was all over the place but somehow worked for him.

"I-I'm Hiccup," I blinked before noticing his hand in front of my face.

I shook his hand his hand was warm and soft."I'm Astrid," I say letting go of his hand.

"Um are you in high school? Well I mean of course you are you don't look old enough to be out of high school. What kind of question is that anyways? Way to go Hiccup-"

"Yes I go to the high school here. I'm guessing you're on your way there?" I say cutting his ramble off, it was quite funny though.

He looks at me for a second then blinks," um yeah, I don't know where it is, I was hoping you could point me in the right direction?" He said scratching the back of his head." I noticed you getting in your car and thought I could ask you and then you started backing up and I went to get out of the way and well tripped over my dumb feet."

I smiled," get in the truck," I say walking over to get in the driver side.

"Um what?" He asks not moving.

"I'm on my way to school now, so get in the car, and I'll take you there with me." I say confused by his question.

"Um I don't know you," he said bluntly.

"What do you mean? We exchanged names and clearly I'm not going to kill you seeing as I slammed on my breaks to avoid hitting you," I said.

He smiled," well you got me there," he got in the passenger side door and looked around.

"Where-"

I grab his bag and put it in the back seat next to mine," right there," I say answering the question he didn't even have to ask.

I back out of the driveway and start driving down the road.

"So where are you from? I'm guessing you're new considering you don't know where the school is," I say.

"I just moved here from Scotland," he said with zero accent what so ever.

"Whoa thats really cool. What made you come to the small island I call home?"

"My dad got an opportunity to expand a branch of the company he works for and run it and that just so happens to be Berk," he said.

"Nice."

"Can I ask a question?" He asked.

"Yeah go ahead."

"What's the deal with this town?" He asked looking out the window.

"What do you mean?" I asked confused.

"The people, they are weird, the seem really welcoming. They are way to nice." He said confused.

"Yeah, that's the old Berkian greeting, the people tend to be really nice..... but the kids are gonna bring this town down," I say parking the car in junior parking.

"What does that mean?" He asked looking at me.

"Well um......" I look at the school entrance," let me just show you and walk you through what I mean."

I grab my bag and hand him his.

"Um ok?" He said lookin at his bag."thanks for the ride by the way."

I look at him for a moment confused." Um you're welcome." I didn't expect him to thank me or anything people don't really have to say thanks to me for me to know they appreciate things.

I turn back to Hiccup to see him crawling out of the Bronco. I notice he has a limp but brush it off he probably doesn't want to tell me about that. I've questioned him enough for one day.
