Astrid's POV

I walk to the front of the school and see that kids are piled up inside

What? It must me raining or something?

I push through the crowd of kids and put my bag over my head to keep as dry as possible.

I run out to my car avoiding getting hit by oncoming cars.

I jump in the bronco and throw my bag in the back seat. I nearly jump out of my skin as I notice a person in the back.

"What the hell Tuffnut! Get out of my car!"

"But it's raining, please give me a ride?" He said pouting.

"You live right behind the school, I'm not driving you when you could easily walk!" I say opening the door.

"Please I'll give you 20 buck!" He pleads.

"Tuffnut it's not even raining that hard and if you go now you won't get that wet. You can change your clothes when you get home anyways!"

"Fine, I didn't want a ride from you anyways," he mutters that last part and gets out shutting the door.

I sigh in frustration and watch Tuffnut hold his skateboard over his head and run out of sight.

I pull out of the parking spot and of course get stuck in traffic. I notice the reasoning for the traffic is a kid stopped in front of all the others talking to his friends.

I rest my head on the steering wheel and sigh in frustration. If you want to talk to your friends pull into a parking spot at least! Seeing those two kids talking makes me think of Hiccup. He's been here for about 2 weeks now and seems settled in for the most part. My thoughts get interrupted.

A rapid pounding sound echos in the car. I lift my head, the rain seems to be getting heavier.

Now I feel kind of bad for making Tuffnut walk home.

The line of traffic starts moving and I finally get out. While driving down the road I see someone sitting on the curb holding their foot. I slow down to see who it is.

Holy shit!

I slam on my breaks and pull over getting out of the car.

Hiccups POV

I don't have a ride home..

It's pouring down rain..

And I can't find Astrid..

I love my life..

I put my hood up and shove through the crowd of kids and make my way to the sidewalk.

The wind is strong and the rain is getting harder.

I live like 2 miles from here. This is gonna be such a fun walk home! While ranting in my head a car drives though a pile and soaks me with water.

I stop dead in my tracks. This is the best day I could be having. I feel a pain in my left leg.

Oh gods not now why now.?!

I hunch over holding my leg. My leg stings and burns and refuses to go away. I sit down and take pressure off of it. I suck air between my teeth, shit this hurts.

I pull up my pant leg to reveal my fucked up foot.

"Why... couldn't this have waited till I got home." I groan in pain.

My head shoots up as a car screeches to a halt. The familiar black bronco pulls to the side of the road.

Astrid jumps out of her door and runs towards me. The water splashes under her foot. Creating little droplets to fly through the air.

"Hiccup? Is that you? Are you ok?" She says crouching down to my side.

"Yeah I'm fine, it's completely normal," I say shaking off the pain in my foot and standing to my feet.

She stands with me and looks at me with concern." Come on it's pouring down rain get in the car and I'll take you home."

"No Astrid it's fine you've already done a lot for me," I say shaking my head.

"Hiccup." She says with a dark tone in her voice."Let me take you home."

I gulp as she says that. She was a little scary when she said that.

I limp to her car and pull myself in. She shuts the door for me and walks around to her side to get in.

She starts driving towards our houses and doesn't look at me. But I look at her the whole time. She is so nice to me and she doesn't have to for any reason. She drops her right arm and steers with her left.

I mean she has absolutely no reason to be nice to me.

Astrid yawns and blinks a few times.

Is she tired?

"Hey are you ok to drive you look a little tired," I ask.

"No I'm fine. Just didn't sleep really well yesterday," she said with a sniffle.

"Why not?" I ask becoming slightly curious.

"Well that's not important," she says avoiding the topic.

"Well no, but what else do we have to talk about?"

She goes quiet for a moment," Toms an asshole and wouldn't stop blowing up my phone last night."

"Why was he blowing up your phone?" I ask raising a brow.

"Well, Tom.... 'likes' me as you would call it. He thinks I want him and will text me at random times in the night asking for me to come over." Astrid said rolling her eyes.

"Tell him you're not interested and to kindly fuck off," I suggest.

"Oh wow like I've never thought of that," she said smiling while rolling her eyes.

"Didn't need the sarcasm," I commented.

Astrid yawns again and blinks rapidly.

"Alright I'm driving," I say.

"You're not driving my truck Hiccup," she said.

"I'll drive slow, I'll be very gentle with the car?" I say trying to convinced her.

She goes quiet for a minute," fine."

She pulls the truck over and we switch places.

She puts on her seat belt and rests her head in the window.
