Jacks POV
My jaw dropped to the floor. Astrid's face went pale."Uh..... were f*cked," the neighbors kid stated.
I corrected him," no, you two are f*cked. I did nothing seeing as I am a child of the Gods."
They both just stared at me not knowing what to do. I rolled my eyes," I'll go upstairs and distract dad while you find a way to get him out."
I turn my back on them to walk up the stairs and greet my father." Hi dad!" I say with enthusiasm as he takes his shoes off and makes his way to the kitchen to make dinner.
"Hey Jack," he says looking past me," where's Astrid? I saw her truck in the driveway so I assume she is here," he said.
"What are you making for dinner," I ask pretending I didn't hear him. I can feel the sweat drip down my face, I don't tend to lie to my dad so this is a bit new.
"Chicken Marcella, where's Astrid?" He asks again.
"I don't know I think she's in her room asleep from the day, maybe taking a shower, couldn't tell ya. I haven't spoke to her since I got home, I was real tired after swim practice." I say not looking at him as I make my way to get some ice from the freezer.
"Oh, well can you go find her for me? I need to ask her about-" I cut him off.
"Ya know what dad, I think I could make dinner. You can just relax, you've been working all day I can do this for ya." I say taking over.
"Ok then, I'm gonna go look for Astrid," he says turning.
My eyes grow wide," wait."
He turns to me confused and raises a brow,"yes?"
"Uh..... H-how many mushrooms do you put on the chicken?" I ask not sure of myself.
"I don't know just however many you think is necessary," he responds.
"Oh, ok..." I say putting my head down.
Astrid's POV
Jack rolled his eyes," I'll go upstairs and distract dad while you find a way to get him out."
He leaves the room and I turn to Hiccup. "We have to get you out of here ASAP."I grab his hand and look towards my window.
"Can you-"
"Astrid I'm not going to fit through that tiny window. So no," Hiccup says cutting me off.
"Well shit, how else am I going to sneak you out?" I ask biting my lip.
He thinks for a moment. He taps his chin with his index finger. I can almost see the lightbulb go off in his mind.
"What if we sneak upstairs without your dad seeing and tell him I just had to use your bathroom?" He suggests.
"Hiccup you live right next door, why would you not just use yours?" I say bluntly.
"Yeah I guess you're right.... how about we say my dryer broke and I was using yours to dry my towel?"
"You could have just hung it up," I say shooting down another one of his ideas.
He looked at me annoyed and crosses his arms," Well what's your plan?"
I pause for a moment," I could say I was letting you borrow a book to read?"
"How is that any better than a towel?" He asked.
"It's more believable," I say.
He sighed," give me a book."
After we find him a book and review why he thought he would like it we start to walk up the stairs. I make eye contact with my dad and then look to jack who literally looks at me like he wanted to explode on me then bangs his head on the counter. Literally.
My dad raised a brow," uh? What brings you over here ...uh...Hiccup?"
"Oh Astrid was like letting me borrow a book that I thought was interesting," Hiccup said kind of nervous.
"Oh, what book?" My dad asks.
"The outsiders," he replies.
"Oh that's a good one," my dad says smiling."say why don't you stay for dinner? We set out extra chicken now that I think about it."
"Oh thank you Mr. Hofferson, but I promised my dad I would be home for dinner, but thank you for the offer again," Hiccup says politely.
"Oh well that's a shame, maybe next time," dad says.
Hiccup nods and smiles. He looks to me with the same smile and gestures to the door.
"Here I'll walk you to the door Hiccup," I say shuffling quickly to the door.
Hiccup follows after me and puts his shoes back on and walks out the door and waves me goodbye. I wave back and shut the door to turn around and see my dad towering over me.
"What boy takes his shoes off to walk downstairs to get a book and leave?" He asks raising a brow.
I gulp," nice ones dad."
And to think I was really gonna get always with this.
He scoffs," nice teenage boys don't exist."
I turn to see jack scrunch his face and throw his hands in the air offended."WOW THANKS DAD. YOU RAISED ME."
My dad turns to Jack," Well you know what I mean."
"No, no I don't. I'm a teenage boy, so I'm mean all of a sudden?" He asks putting his hand on his hip and putting one hand on the counter top. " I literally offered to make you dinner because you've been working all day."
I start to giggle at the situation. Then my dad turns to me," don't laugh you're only going to make it worse!"
"Haha dad! Look at that! Astrid is laughing at how WRONG you are and how DUMB you look right now," Jack says snapping his fingers clearly joking around at this point.
My dad pinches the bridge of his nose," you kids will be the death of me."
Jack and I just started laughing and my dad just rolled his eyes.
