Hiccups POV
Astrid's dad was a very how do I put this. Concerned man.
He wanted to know just about every detail of my life. I understand after all I am his daughters new friend who lives next door. That a little concerning.
"So you and Astrid are just friends?"He asks sipping out of his drink.
"Yeah, I mean we just met but I would say we're friends," I say wiping sauce from my mouth.
Oh yeah, I've been here for about an hour and John offered me dinner. I was just going to stop at DQ and get something there but i was being offered a free meal so.
I put some noodles in my mouth and mid chew her dad asks," do you find my daughter attractive?"
I nearly choke on my food after he asks that. I thought back to when I dropped Astrid off. I can't help but feel my cheeks get red. Her laying there in a T-shirt and maroon-
Astrid drops her fork taking me out of my thoughts and stands straight up a little flustered," DAD! That's enough, you've questioned him enough, that's way to much," she says.
Her dad raises his hands in defense," I just want to know his intentions, that's all."
"I've known him for literally 2 weeks! He probably doesn't even know his own intentions!" She says getting frustrated.
The room goes silent and Astrid pinches the bridge of her nose.
After a few minutes of silence Jack clears his throat," Well Hiccup it was nice meeting you, again but it's getting late."
"oh yeah," I says looking at my watch and widening my eyes. It's already 21:30(9:30pm) how did time fly so fast!" Oh yeah no my dads probably worried about me," I put my bowl next to the sink after rinsing it.
"Well thank you for letting me into your home, and thank you for dinner," I say waving my goodbyes.
"I'll show you out," Astrid says walking past me.
I watch her go and follow after her. She opens the door for me and I smile and step out the door. I turn to her," see you later."
"Hiccup wait," she says closing the door behind her.
"Yeah?"
"I-I'm sorry about my dad, he shouldn't have asked you all those questions, and I should have stopped him," she says with a sigh and a look of guilt.
"Oh no it was fine, I mean I am your friend who's a guy, not to mention your neighbor, that would set any good dad off." I say assuring her.
"Are you sure?" She asks.
I step towards Astrid and rest my hands on her shoulders,"Astrid Hofferson, I can assure you, it is alright."
She sighs in relief," Alright whatever you say, see you tomorrow."
I take my hands off her shoulders and nod my head and walk back down the steps and she disappears back into her house.
The next day. At lunch
"Hey guys when are we like going to the quarry? You guys keep blowing it off," Dagar asks sitting between Astrid and I.
"I don't think I can go to the quarry with you ever Dagar," Astrid says.
"Well you're not that important, it only matters if the rest of us are there," Dagar says putting his arm around me and giving me squeeze." I mean come on Astrid, you spend every waking minute with Hiccup, we want some time with him too."
"Sure you do," Astrid says taking a sip of her chocolate milk.
"What does that mean?" Dagar asked acting offended.
"It means you're an asshole and just want to duck with him," Astrid said looking him dead in the eyes.
"Whoa Astrid! I know you're on your period and all but seriously calm down," Dagar says taking one of my carrots.
"Hey, I was gonna eat that," I said as he puts it in his mouth.
"Oh well," Dagar says," anyways over the summer we're all going to the quarry, wether you like it or not."
The whole table sighs in annoyance.
"Whoa calm down it will be fun," Dagar said leaning back in his char," don't worry I'll bring the booze. Just bring your swimsuits."Dagar looked to Astrid," and if you're off your period by then, you can just show up in your birthday suit." With that Dagar winked and left the table.
I felt my blood boil, how dare he say that to Astrid, how dare he say that to someone in general?!
Astrid didn't seem to care though. She brushed it off and just rolled her eyes.
I wasn't going to bring it up if Astrid didn't. She can handle herself after all.
"If Dagar is found dead with a dagar in his back, it wasn't me," Astrid said.
I almost choke on my milk at her joke. Then I get to thinking how did he get the name Dagar?
"Hey how did he get that name anyways?" I ask.
"He pulled a knife on some guy at the drive in," Ruffnut said looking up from her food.
"Whoa wait what?" I asked.
"Yeah his girlfriend and him were at the drive in and he went to get popcorn and when he came back she was making out with some guy. I guess he just got really mad and pulled his knife on him," Ruff said.
"I heard he actually stabbed the guy," Tuff said.
"Wouldn't surprise me if his dad paid the guy to keep his mouth shut and not press charges," Fishlegs said.
"That's crazy," I said.
After the the table went silent.nobody spoke a word and Astrid seemed to be off in her own world.
"I hate Dagar," Fishlegs says," and I don't hate anyone.
"We all do," Ruffnut comments rolling her eyes.
"We don't have to go you know," I say rubbing it off.
"No we're all going, or we will never hear the end of it, and he will make sure of that," Tuffnut groans.
