Enchanted Forest, before the first dark curse....
Evil Queen: I waltzed in my dark palace, with my evil face wrinkling my eyes. My resonating voice was complaining about my awful life, as always, and by inability to find a happy ending. Snow White and Prince Charming were indestructible, and when I thought the curse Rumple gave me could work, I was wrong. As it appeared, I needed to sacrifice the heart of the thing I loved most, which for me was daddy. When he found out about this, he ran away, to someplace where not even my magic mirror could track him.
So now, I was alone, and had no way to cast my curse. I had to endure my pitiful days in the shadow of my nemesis' happiness, her very existence mocked me!
But this wouldn't last for long. If I couldn't cast my curse, then I'd find someone else who could.
"Mirror, mirror, on the wall, show me the one with the most vengeful heart of them all." I asked the mirror, widening my eyes with the hope of finding someone else who could cast my curse.
"Of course, your majesty." The mirror did as it was told and showed me the image of a young blonde prince, tall, hot, elegant, covered in black from head to toes.
"Who is he?" I asked, placing my hand on the mirror.
"His name is Hamlet, he is a vengeful prince from a faraway kingdom. His father died at the hands of his uncle, and ever since then, Hamlet tried to get his revenge but could never get the work done."
"I know the feeling." I confessed, while I chuckled.
"I see..."
"Where is he now?" I wondered, as I watched the prince surrounded by snow and coldness.
"In our realm, your majesty. He was banished from his kingdom once he killed his girlfriend's father, thinking that would bring him one step closer to his revenge."
"As it appears he was mistaken. But I like this Hamlet, if he was able to break his lover's heart just in the name of revenge...Maybe he can cast my curse! Mirror, take me to him!"
"Of course, your majesty. Your wish is my command."
The mirror poofed me to the place where Hamlet stood amongst the darkness and the wintery rain, the snow stuck to the grounds and the trees whispered down our necks.
Hamlet was holding a silver skull in his hand, and constantly asking himself some weird existential questions. "To be or not to be?" He wondered, and so many others, worried about what revenge was turning him into.
"Don't worry, prince. Nothing worthier than to sacrifice the soul in the name of revenge." I said, placing my hand on his shoulder.
He was startled, gasping in fear.
"Who are you?"
"Let's just say I'm a fan of your work. I'm Regina. Like you, I know how important revenge can be, I too, lost someone I cared deeply for at the hands of my enemy. I can teach you getting your revenge on your uncle!"
"Why would you help me? I don't even know you."
"Let's just say that our interests align. I have a curse in my possession that can give us revenge, but I am not powerful enough to cast it on my own. We can work together to cast it, what do you say?"
"I'm flattered, but...I don't have magic...I wouldn't know how to cast a curse."
"Don't worry, I'll teach you everything I know about magic!"
Hamlet stared at me, his eyes burning with jubilee, after finally realizing that he had someone to help him on his quest.
Days passed by in a blink of an eye. As my lessons with Hamlet began, my heart filled with something it never thought it could be possible to be filled with: hope! Hope that I'd finally get what I wished.
