New York, many years ago...
Henry: The beautiful librarian with hot brown eyes and olive toned skin welcomed me and Violet in the rare reading room section.
New York city had many wonders, from casinos to hotels and bars, but of all the wonders, the public library was by far, the best of hidden gems.
With the lions in front, inspiring the greatness of literature and reading, and the castle like build, the library was the bit of magic that this world had. Books were the only magic in our world, they were windows to the beloved realms of storytelling where the rest of my family lived! And in the rare reading room, I was hoping to find the best of those windows!
"Very well, this is it, young man! The rare reading room section. No one has come in here in ages...I hope you find whatever it is that you're looking for here. Just don't expect to find YA novels."
I giggled, as the nice young lady flew away from the room and left me in that dusty chamber with piles of angels of ink and paper.
The books were many, so dusty, old, and...forgotten. It was a pity that no one had come to that section of the library, because it was by far, the greatest. It reminded me of the sorceress' mansion, with all those author books.
Violet was more excited than me. Who would have guessed? After all I was the nerdy writer boy with the scarf, not her! But that was her first day in the land without magic, so it was comprehensible.
"Henry, look at all of this! It's wonderful! Aside from the pizzeria this is the best place in the city!"
"I know, it's pretty great." I said, as she walked pass the shelves pilled with dusty books.
"But hey, don't forget, we're here because of our mission. Operation Mixtape, remember?"
"Yes, of course, Henry...I remember."
"Cool, let's find the answer to destroy magic in these books. My father came here a long time ago with that same purpose, so I'm sure he was certain that here he would find the answers he sought."
"Okay, I'll start with these books, read every page and then re-read it."
"Fine, I'll start with these dustier ones."
"Alright Henry...But..." Violet didn't look confident, something was wrong with her...I could tell. But what would it be the force that wrinkled her eyes and turned her pale blue of concern? "How are we going to find anything in here, if your dad couldn't?"
"With hope...You need to have it. It's imperative that we find our answers, Violet. Magic is terrible, it took away my dad, your mom, who knows what will do next. We have to destroy it, once and for all." I reminded her, placing my hand above her shoulder.
She nodded, as her cheeks turned brighter than gold and her eyes widened in hope and expectation.
As Violet started analyzing the books I gave her and I prepared to dig my eyes one the dustier ones, I couldn't help but notice a huge shelf with more than fifty or something large books, with a familiar face.
"No way..." I whispered.
"What's wrong, Henry?"
"These books..." I dug my hands on the multiple books that looked so familiar to me and placed them on the table in front of me. "They all look like my storybook." I said, placing, one, two, three, a dozen! Of books entitled "Once Upon a Time" with big capital golden letters covering the brown dusty old bottom.
Violet stared at me, her mouth opened, her eyes widened, her hands shacking with the adrenaline.
"These books are magic, what are they doing in New York?"
I opened the books and flicked through the pages, as beautiful illustrations pleasured my eyes, and some other, frightening, shacked my beating heart.
"Henry...You said that all the stories in your book were real." Violet whispered, as I flicked through the pages and revealed images of a man with a deep mysterious look and a shady coil holding a silver skull, two lovers kissing the lips of death with a dagger and poison in their hands, and many, many other illustrations.
"Yes, they are."
"So, in that case...It means that all these stories..."
"They're real too." I nodded, staring at Violet with a blissful adventurous look.
