XIII. \\ DIGGING //
"I don't understand...why would Brandon have a newspaper article of Dunbar? Could they have known each other?"
The next day at school, Arden had met up with Rowan so they could try to piece some things together about what was happening to them. Dunbar was dead, they knew that for sure...so someone else was behind it or was picking up where Dunbar left off. If they wanted to stop this thing before it escalated into what happened three months ago, they couldn't ignore something like this.
Arden shrugged her shoulders, "Maybe."
"Can you do some more digging?" Rowan asked her, "You can use being his partner to your advantage to get more information."
Arden was reminded that she was his partner for the stupid class assignment. Internally, she groaned as that was a whole other issue she had to deal with.
"Yeah, I'll try to see what I can find." Arden nodded, then showed her the page in the notebook, "What does this look like to you?"
Rowan frowned a little, her eyebrows furrowing, "Locker combo?"
Nodding, Arden closed the book and slid it in her back pocket, "That's what I was thinking."
Up ahead, Rowan and Arden saw Hailey standing by the staircase...it looked like she was reading a script of some sort. Ro looked at Arden and she could tell they both had the same idea forming in their head as they approached Hailey.
"Hey, what is Brandon's locker number?" Rowan asked Hailey.
Looking up from the script she was reading, she frowned, "Why?"
"This notebook fell out of Brandon's pocket." Arden showed it to her, "There's a news clipping of Dunbar inside and numbers that look like they could be a locker combo."
Arden watched as Hailey barely glanced at the book before sighing. She could tell Hailey obviously did not want to be apart of this conversation right now.
"Do you really think that Brandon is Monkeyman 2.0?" Hailey looked at them, "I mean, if someone wants revenge for Dunbar, don't you think they'd be after him, too? No one treated Dunbar worse than Brandon."
Yeah...maybe it didn't make complete sense...but it was better just to look into it to be sure. Last time, Monkeyman was right there in front of them and they didn't even notice.
