One Way or Another - Until The Ribbon Breaks

\\ RESURFACED //

Arden's whole body felt weighed down as she made her way through the halls the next morning. After waking up from the reoccurring nightmare she had been having for months, she was up most of the night, unable to fall back asleep. Her mind was too afraid to sink back into her dreams and her body was still in a defensive mode as she tossed and turned for the rest of the night.

As Arden made her way to her first class, her body felt the exhaustion settling into her muscles, her eyes, her head...she felt like a zombie.

The only thing that disrupted her from her mindless state was the feeling of her phone vibrating in her pocket, and when she looked down at the screen, she saw Rowan's name flash across it.

Meet me at the stairwell before class. It's important.

Sighing, Arden slid her phone back into her pocket and turned around, walking back to the hallway that led to the stairwell that she knew Rowan wanted to meet. When she came around the corner, she saw Rowan, Hailey, and Elisia standing there, waiting for her.

"Hey guys," Arden yawned as she approached them, "What's up?"

Elisia frowned when she saw her, "You look terrible."

"Thanks. Yeah, I didn't get much sleep last night," She muttered, leaning up against the wall tiredly, "And I got five minutes until I have to get to class and I can't deal with getting detention today so what's going on?"

There was a moment where no one said anything, but they were all looking to Rowan since she was the one who had texted all of them. Arden could see a dreaded look in her eyes as she sighed, letting her know what whatever she had to tell them...wasn't good.

"I got a video from monkeyman last night." Rowan revealed.

Instantly, Arden's tired body awoke. Her lips parted, her body feeling like it was doused in ice.

This just changed everything they had been hoping to be true. Even though they all had been texted the night of the party, after Dunbar died...they had all hoped that it was nothing. That maybe all of it would go away.

"That's not possible." Hailey shook her head immediately, "Monkeyman's dead."

"I know." Rowan sighed, "I was there, remember?"
