it's like I've taken the puzzle in me
and left it scrambled for all to see."

XXXIV. \\ BACKSTABBER //
Arden only slept for a little over two hours before she was pulled out of her sleep by the sound of her phone vibrating on her night stand. Groggily, she picked her head up and reaching over, grabbing her phone. She squinted her eyes as her screen lit up, showing that Rowan was calling, and Arden's eyebrows furrowed in confusion, seeing it was a little over 1am.
Arden looked over at Brandon, still fast asleep beside her. His arm was draped over her waist, and he was softly snoring. It pulled the corner of her lips up into a smile.
Not wanting to wake him up, she carefully slid out from under his arm, quietly got out of bed, walked out of her room and closed the door behind her. As she moved down the hallway, towards the living room, she answered her phone.
"Rowan?" Arden yawned, "What's up?"
"I'm almost at your place," She said hastily, "We need to go to Stinger's now!"
There was an urgency in Rowan's voice that woke Arden up. She sounded scared, extremely worried.
"Just get out get ready and I'll explain on the way." Rowan answered hastily.
Arden didn't question her further, just nodded her head, "Okay, I'll be out in a minute."
The line disconnected and Arden let out a slow breath as she crept back towards her room. She opened her bedroom door, and saw Brandon was still sleeping. So she tried to be as quiet as she could, going over to her closet to grab a t-shirt, leggings, and jacket to change into. She grabbed Brandon's jacket...the one he'd given her the night he saved her from the truck in the Brew alleyway. The one that she never got the chance to return to him. Arden then grabbed her pair of boots off the floor, and headed towards her door.
But before she walked out of her room, she looked back over her shoulder. At Brandon sleeping soundly in her bed. While Arden desperately wished that she could have spent this night sleeping in his arms...she knew that she had to go. She had to put an end to this so she could get nights like the one she could have had tonight.
Letting out a slow breath, her grip tightened on the clothes and her boots, and she quietly walked out of her room, closing her bedroom door behind her softly. She made her way back to the bathroom, where she quickly got changed and shrugged the jacket over herself. Then she slipped her boots on and hurried towards the door, seeing Rowan parked in front of her house as soon as she walked out.
