If you haven't read We Were Happy please read it before this to cause less confusion.

Ed's POV.

I stood in the hallway with Lily still wrapped tight in my arms.

She looked at me with her delicate crystal blue eyes.

"Daddy." She whispered in a low hush. "Why is everyone crying?"

I looked at her with tears in my own eyes.

She resembled Taylor so much. Her hair was golden, eyes wild blue like the ocean waves.

"Mommy is-" I stopped mid sentence while nurses, doctors, and anyone else in the medical field filed out of Taylor's room in a rush.

I watched with scrunched eyes brows looking for an answer.

"You're a very lucky man." The doctor said following the crowd of nurses running with Taylor now in front of them.

I left Lily standing by the door and followed him.

"What's going on?" I asked searching for answers.

In the wild rush he stopped and turned around.

"She held on Ed." He said.

"She held on? What's that supposed to mean?" I questioned.

"It means you still have her. It means that she held on long enough for us to bring her back. It means that you're very lucky. You and that little girl standing back there. Now if you excuse me I need to go if you plan on taking her home to your house instead of a cemetery." He spoke patting my shoulder.

I watched as he turned the corner disappearing from view.

I turned around and ran to the waiting room. I ran as fast as my legs would take me.

"What's going on?" Taylor's mom asked as I rushed into the room.

I ignored her and ran straight over to Lily. Embracing her closely, I took in the news.

"Daddy, you never answered my question." Lily said looking up at me with tears stinging her eyes.

"Mommy's okay." I said pulling back from her.

"I want to see her." She said above a whisper.

I nodded.

"Me too Lily, but we can't." I said cuffing my hand around her cheek.

"Why not?" She asked.

Times like these were times I wished Taylor were here. What was i supposed to tell my daughter?

"Because she needs to get better. Then when she gets better we can take her home again." I said as I felt the presence of a hand on my shoulder.

I turned my head, Taylor's mom was standing behind me with tears in her eyes.

"She's alive?" She asked as If it was a dream.

I shook my head standing up. She embraced me in a hug as the tears fell.

"How?" She asked still wrapping her head around the idea that her daughter had come back from the dead.

"They said she held on. Just long enough for them to reach her." I said. She let go of me and went over to Taylor's dad. I turned my attention back to Lily.

I picked her up and sat in a chair. I pulled my fingers through her hair and thought about everything. Taylor was alive. She was a fighter. She was a survivor of some sort.

She was going to wake up. She was going to wake up and come home with me and Lily. We would be a family still. We would have more kids and we would continue our lives together.

"Daddy?" Lily asked interrupting me.

"Yes?" I questioned.

"What do we do now?"

"We wait."
