The Homestead, 1775
Wandering about the homestead after aiding the inn keepers Oliver and Corrnie with some repairs, I found that there was a sense of familiarity - a sense of knowing this place was my home. The Homestead had expanded greatly since Connor and I had left Kanen'tó:kon, even before he had come to us as well. During the last year, Connor had ran off on the Aquila with me to venture to find a letter to Abel Owens from Captain Kidd, an adventure that was surprisingly rewarding. But as things settled, many came to and from the Homestead through the inn as we took on a few inhabitants.
I arrived to the stables just as a messenger was leaving the door of the house i'd lived in with Connor, my mother, and Achilles - walking towards the path that ran right behind the stables and house leading to the docks below.
"Anyone answer the door?" I asked aloud as the man was walking. Upon looking closer, I saw it was a man who worked upon the Aquila.
He nodded his head with a kind smile. "Yes but um, just delivering a letter addressed to Canada and Connor - I was instructed to give this to Canada." The man replied as he looked to the letter.
My eyes lit up at his mention and I hurried over to where he stood. "My name is Canada."
"Oh then here ma'am. Apologies, I didn't realize, with the hood." He handed over the letter before running off down the path.
Ah yes, the hood of my cloak i'd bought in New York after visiting Haytham to ensure he knew I was alive...
I shook my head and bit my lip as I opened the letter whose seal had been freshly broken into, glancing over its contents and removing the hood of my cloak from my head.
It was from Paul.
Paul Revere.
"... and we ask that you assist in the effort to delay the attack we foresee coming to Boston."
Boston... oh yes...
I sighed as I continued to read over the letter before folding it and running up the grassy slope of the front of the house, making my way to the landing and storming into the house.
I found Connor and Achilles and my mother in the main hall before the door, turning to look to me.
My mother attempted to pull me into a hug but I could only shrugged her off, not finding it to be the time to allow myself the comfort. I had fought with her that previous morning just to go help Oliver and Corrine. They were the first of the recent inhabitants that my mother did not get along with.
But now here we all were.
"I didn't think you'd be back so soon." My mother looked to me, concerned.
Well yes, neither did I. I thought to myself before looking to Achilles and Connor, holding up the letter.
Achilles nodded, having read it already I guessed. "Have you read it?"
"Indeed... seems Connor and I are off." I simply implied, biting my lip once more as I ran a hand through my hair while allowing my mother to remove my cloak.
"You both made quite an impression on the Sons of Liberty." Achilles replied as Connor and I shared a glance. That was not really something we were hoping for. "If you leave now, you may reach Boston just before the sun is down."
"Well, we best be on our way then." Connor added.
Achilles looked between the two of us and sighed as he looked to my mother. "Then be on your way."
