The crisp cold wind of New York sent Ada's hair fluttering softly on her forehead. The Caucasian women was leaning on the balcony of a fancy hotel.
The international spy was wearing her trademark red dress but with a darker shade of red with flowers embroidery. A red mask perched on her face, disguising her identity from anyone who could recognise the spy.
Ada said her thanks as she plucked the champagne glass off one of the waiters passing by, sipping on the golden liquid while her eyes sparkled from reflecting the city lights.
She was given an invitation to the masquerade ball by an anonymous sender. The women tried to trace where the invitation came from, but it lead to a dead end.
"Such a shame a lovely women like you is all alone here." A deep voice said as he stood beside Ada, his white hair was slicked back and a silver white mask was perched on his nose. His three piece Armani suit hugged every length and showed off the mysterious man's toned body perfectly.
Out of the corner of her eyes, Ada spotted a few guards standing by the door that leads to the balcony, preventing anyone to join the two.
"Don't bother with getting your gun. My snipers are all ready to spray parts of your brain down the sidewalks of the Big Apple. We wouldn't want that now."
Ada stopped herself from reaching for her gun holster that was hidden under her dress, eyeing every corner of the buildings nearby before turning to the man.
"I just needed some air. And what does a gentlemen like you wandering around with a lonely women?"
Ada tilted her face upwards and grinned at the men, who had a small smile on his face as they stared at each other.
"I do hope you remember our deal, Ms Wong." The man took off his mask to reveal his identity, and Ada couldn't help the smile that played on her lips.
"Vergil. How long has it been since the last time we met?" "Quite some time, I must say."
Vergil placed his mask back, signalling his snipers to retreat from their spot.
"Aren't you afraid I'll take this chance to blow your head right here?" "If you wanted to, you already did."
Ada narrowed her eyes, this was not she expected from her new client, much less from the man she had worked for years ago.
"What do you want, Vergil?" "Same thing as everyone else in a ball would want." Vergil smirked as he pulled Ada towards him, before holding her around for a dance.
"A dance? Such a gentlemen." Ada played along with Vergil, twirling around the Nephilim with grace.
"I'm thankful for the compliment. But I'm doing this to avoid suspiscion. And something else." With a swift motion, Vergil dipped Ada to the floor, with one arm under Ada's back while the other produced a gun.
A gunshot was heard and Ada tensed for a moment under Vergil, than relaxed slightly when Vergil pointed the weapon at a nearby building, taking out a rogue sniper that had been perching on that location.
"Guess your identity's spoiled. Shall we?" Ada smirked as she allowed Vergil to lead inside the building, where waltz music was playing.
The two quickly blended in with the swirling crowd of dancers, with Vergil keeping Ada moving around.
"Didn't peck you for being a dancer." Ada said as she twirled around the dance floor, letting Vergil dipped her to the floor like the other dancers were doing before they glided to a private room.
"Just one of many hidden talents." Vergil said as he took off his mask, before ushering Ada to a computer.
Ada leaned her hands against the table top, raising an eyebrow when she saw who the person in the photo is.
"Albert Wesker himself. Why am I not surprised?" Ada remarked as the blonde was standing in front of multiple screens, his straight posture that stated he was a leader was not something anyone could pull off.
"Yes, he's still alive, as you can tell. I thought you knew?" "Of course I knew. But they told me to keep a tight lip about it."
Vergil raised an eyebrow. "They?"
"What do you really want than?" Ada ignored the Nephilim's question and asked as she walked around the room, eyeing Vergil with a critical eye.
"Clearly, I'm here to hire you. I need you to keep an eye on these people." Vergil turned his laptop to face Ada, which the screen had displayed a few people along with their personal information.
Ada recognised a few that were on display. There was Chris Redfield and Jake Muller, and both were wearing their BSAA uniform.
"It seems Wesker junior decided not to follow in his father's footsteps after all." Ada said as she scanned through the rest of the people, before narrowing her eyes at one person.
"Leon..." Ada whispered under breath as a picture of the blonde agent along with someone else she vaguely recognise.
"I take it you know him. But he's not our priority. The one beside him, that you have to keep a very close eye." Vergil pointed at the picture of one Dante Sparta.
"In exchange?" Ada stood up and narrowed her eyes at Vergil.
"You'll gain your freedom from The Family." Ada widened her eyes at that, realising what this could mean for her whole life.
"And why would you say that?" The Nephilim smirked at the women as he leaned against his sword, before speaking.
"Simple. Because I am one of them."
🍀🍀🍀I don't know why, but I felt Vergil and Ada would be a powerful duo if they had known each other. Any thought on the two?
