Jake growled as he slammed the steering wheel in frustration, watching helplessly as their target drove further away from them until they became only a speck in the horizon.

Despite his almost broken arm (he insisted that it wasn't), Jake had pursued the intruder that helped with the kidnapping of Dante when reports were heard that a car left suspiciously in a hurry after the whole fiasco blew up.

His comm crackled with static before Sherry's voice came through the line.

"Did we get them?" Jake was silent for a moment, staring at the direction where Ada's car had disappeared to.

"No, we didn't. They got a military helicopter backing up their escape. Send a car around to pick up the troops. Most of our jeeps has lost their tires and some of them lost their engines."

Jake got out of the jeep he was in, and narrowed his eyes when he looked over the scene before him.

With the weaponry possessed by a military helicopter, why didn't the pilot just finish them off with one or two missiles? Instead, Jake noticed how the chopper deliberately aimed at their tires, and also catching some of the vehicle's engine on fire, as if the pilot only wanted to slow them down instead of killing them with one press of a button.

When Jake arrived at the hospital, Sherry immediately enveloped him in a hug, relieved that her boyfriend was okey.

"Now that you're here, can we please get that arm looked at?" Sherry said as she stared in horror at how Jake's left arm was twisted in an odd angle.

"Yes, madam." Sherry rolled her eyes at the pronoun before helping Jake to the medical ward, where he could be attended by a doctor.

Jake was cursing the whole time when the doctor tried to twist his hand back to its original position, and Sherry was there every step of the way and soothe him with soft touches and occasionally a kiss to the forehead.

"Please tell me you did not record everything." Jake muttered as the doctor busied placing a cast on his arm, his eyes narrowed at Helena who had a cellphone clutched in her hand with a slight smirk in her face.

"Everything it is than." Jake sighed before nodding at the doctor after his cast was placed, and Sherry apologised for Jake for being so noisy.

"It's quite alright. Most patients acted the way you did. You are very lucky to have such a loving girlfriend, Mr. Muller."

Jake blushed at the comment and growled when Helena took a picture of him blushing, and was quick to run out of the ward when Jake took a threatening step forward.

"How's Jar-Head and the Hero doing?" Jake asked as Helena, Sherry and himself walked down the white hallways of the hospital, the three of them were headed to Chris' and Leon's room.

"Chris has to undergo a backbone surgery after a metal scrap managed to poked its way into his back. He's now asleep from the anaesthetic. Leon, however..."

Helena trailed off as Sherry knocked on the door to Leon's room, with Rebecca answering the door with a frown.

"How is he?" Sherry whispered to the professor, who shook her head sadly before letting them in quietly.

If one paid attention, quiet sobs could be heard from behind blue curtains that fluttered softly from the wind.

Helena felt a pang of hurt in her chest at seeing her partner feel so broken, and Sherry was already close to sobbing herself at seeing the condition Leon was in.

"I was hoping you guys could keep him company for a while. I would love to stay, but Holmes insisted that I return to the labs to check if anything were stolen during the infiltration."

Rebecca smiled apologetically. Jake thought for a moment before he followed the professor.

"Since Jar-Head is down for the moment, I might as well follow you. I know the place well." Rebecca thanked Jake for the company before the two left.

Helena and Sherry stayed in Leon's room, only smiling comfortingly when the blonde opened the curtains when he realised he had company.

Helena reaches out a hand and placed it on Leon's arm, while Sherry went to the other side of the bed, biting back a sob at seeing Leon's red and puffy eyes that the agent tried to hide with his bangs.

No words were needed between the trio as Helena and Sherry spend the night with Leon in the hospital ward, with the two female agents requesting an extra bed for Helena.

Leon looked out the window after Helena and Sherry fell asleep, and his face was partially visible.

'Dante, wherever you are, promise me you'll be safe....'
