Typhon's storm rumbled in the distance, close enough for Bane to see. Marching underneath him was the monster army.

Cyclopes, Hydras, Chimeras, Harpies, Manticores, Minotaurs, Griffins and Sphinxes all filled the valley below Mount Olympus. In the centre was Echidna, curled up and a cushion-lined platform that was carried by the winds of her husband.

In front of her was a woman with the body of a spider, a woman with snakes for hair, a woman with a dragon's body, scorpion's tail and snakes for hair. The third monster's waist bubbled as animal heads poked out, snapping at anything that got too close.

"Monsters created by the Gods," a woman said behind Bane. He turned to find Athena, Goddess of Wisdom, standing behind him. She stood on the ledge next to him. "That is Arachne," the Goddess told Bane, pointing towards the spider-lady. "She boasted about how her weaving was superior to mine and so I challenged her to a contest. When she lost, she hung herself because she couldn't weave again, as was the rules set down. I turned her into the first spider so that she could still weave without a loom".

"Loom?" Bane asked.

"An ancient form of weaving, later replaced by sewing machines," Athena explained. "Medusa is also one of my creations. She and Poseidon were having an affair in one of my temples, which is an affair-free zone. I turned her into a Gorgon so she would never make the same mistake again".

"Doesn't she turn people to stone?" Bane asked, worried about how he would fight her if he couldn't look at her

"Doesn't she turn people to stone?" Bane asked, worried about how he would fight her if he couldn't look at her.

"What better way to keep her from having affairs than to make her kill everyone who looks at her?" Athena said.

"What about the dragon-lady?".

"That is Campe," Gyges answered, walking up to them, "She was set as a guard while we were imprisoned in Tartarus. Now we have the chance to kill her".
