Run.

That's what I did every day for 2 years. Every single day was just running. If you wanted to survive in this world, you would run.

It's been 2 years since the break out. Nobody knows what caused it or if there is even a cure. All that anybody knows is to stay away from the terrifying, drooling freaks that love to eat people alive. They never run out of energy. They never get winded. They never stop.

I'm Sara. I'm 23 and I used to be alone in this world. It was just me for 2 years. Trying to find food, shelter, other living human beings. I gave up after a year of searching. I knew I wouldn't find anyone who was safe to stay with. That is, until I stumbled across a group of people one day. Actually, if I'm gonna be honest, they found me.

It was a cold winter morning. It wasn't snowing, but the air was crisp and cold. It felt good when you were used to sweating like a pig from constant running from walkers. I didn't mind the cold too much anyway.

I was resting against a tree when I heard leaves crunching behind me. I was about to start running when a pair of hands grabbed me and tackled me to the ground. I started to scream and cry, trying to kick it off of me. 'This is it', I thought. 'This is the moment where I die.' That's when I heard a loud noise and felt the thing go limp on me and something help me up. Wait, what? Walkers don't kill other walkers or help people. I spun around and saw him. The most beautiful thing I've seen in a long time.

"The name's Rick." the man said. "Rick Grimes. Are you alright? Were you bit?" All I could do was stare. Was this an actual person talking to me? Was I dreaming? I reached out my hand to touch him, making sure he was real. "Sara" I said upon touching him. "I - am I dead? Am I dreaming? Hallucinating?" Rick looked at me in confusion. "I haven't seen another human being in two years now.." I said in a sad tone. I know I should be happy that there is another person that isn't trying to kill me standing directly in front of me. "You've been by yourself for..two years?" Rick looked sorry for me. "Yes. I lost my entire family. They're all dead." I said, starting to tear up. I try not to think about them; my family. The way they went was so inhumane...I just can't.

Rick looked as though he wanted to say something but was hesitant. "Well, thank you Rick, for saving my life. I would have died today if you weren't around." I turned and started to walk away. "Wait" he said. I stopped dead in my tracks and turned around to face him. "I - I have a group not too far from here. I can't let you go off by yourself. You don't even have a weapon." I looked at him with a gleam of hope. "Th - there's more of you? And you would accept me, a total stranger you just met...into your group?" I asked, trying not to sound too excited. "Yes, but.." His facial expression went from friendly to dark as he started taking steps towards me. I quickly began to fear the man who had just saved my life. I backed away from him until my back hit an old abandoned shed. Rick quickly approached me and put his hands on the wall blocking me from escaping. His face was so close to mine that we were practically breathing the same air. "If you do anything, and I mean anything, that will threaten the safety of my group" he brought his face even closer to mine, which I didn't even think was possible, "I will not hesitate to kill you." He said in a threatening tone. His eyes searching mine and mine searching his. "Do you understand?" Trembling with fear, I nodded my head. He removed himself from my personal space and I let out the breath I didn't realize I was holding in. 'I do not want to get on his bad side. It seems like he really cares for his group though.' Walking beside him I snuck a glance at his face. 'He's a handsome man. I wonder if he's married' I thought to myself as he led me to his camp. "Don't worry, Sara" Rick said, interrupting my thoughts. He smiled at me. "You're not alone anymore."
