I opened my eyes and it was dark. I must've fallen asleep out here in the woods. Rick would kill me if he knew. I'm sure the others are worried about me too. I stood up and looked around. It was really dark but thankfully I knew my way back. I've walked this way and back with Daryl tons of times when we went hunting. He taught me how to track too so even if I didn't know my way back, I could follow my own trail. I headed back to camp and started thinking. I'm really lucky that nothing came my way. If a walker had been nearby, I would've been a goner.
I made my way out of the woods and began to walk the road to my house. I immediately started thinking about Rick. I really hoped that he was awake. I wanted to see him so bad. I walked down the road a little more. "Sara!" I looked around and saw nobody. I continued walking. "SARA!" The person yelled again. I looked ahead of me to see an angry Daryl coming my way. He didn't hesitate to get in my face. "Where the hell were ya?? I was worried sick!" I opened my mouth to speak but Daryl kept going. "You think it's smart to run off like that? Not tell anybody where you're going? I know your dumb ass fell asleep out there!" I looked down in embarrassment. He was right to yell at me. What I did was stupid and dangerous.
Daryl put a finger under my chin and pulled my face up to look at him. He lowered his voice. "Don't you ever do that to me again. Rick was 'bout ready to kill me when I told him I didn't know where ya were." I looked in his eyes. "I'm sorry Daryl. It won't happen again." He pulled me into a hug. "Good, cause if it does I'll kill ya myself." I chuckled. I pulled away from the hug. "You said Rick is up?" Daryl nodded. "He's in bed. Go see him." He said kissing my forehead. I gave Daryl a smile and walked to my house.
I walked in the door and shut it behind me. I looked at the spot on the floor where I killed Lori. It had blood stains all around. I went past it and went upstairs. I peeked into my room and nobody was in there. There was only one other place he could be.
Walking down the hall I heard him grunt, as if he was trying to roll over. I stood in the doorway. "Hey stranger." I said with a small smile. Rick looked at me and tried to jump out of bed. "No Rick, please." I ran over to the bed and sat on the edge. "You need your rest babe. Just relax." Rick laid back down and scooted over to one side of the bed and opened his arms. I looked at him and he smiled. "I'm waiting" he said softly. I threw my shoes off and jumped into bed with him. I got as close as I possibly could to him as he wrapped his strong arms around my body. I started to cry. "I thought you weren't gonna make it." I said through my tears. "Hey" Rick said bringing his hand under my chin and lifting my face to look into my eyes. "I'm not going anywhere." He said as he leaned in and kissed me. I broke the kiss and touched his shoulder where Lori had shot him. I looked back at Rick and realized something. Nobody is safe anymore. The woman who claimed she loved Rick had shot him. Even people you know can turn their back on you in a second. From this point on we have to fight the dead and fear the living.
