I opened my eyes and saw a bunch of people surrounding me. They were all just staring. "Ugh. My head, my stomach, my everything. What happened? Where am I?" I looked around, taking note that something was strange. A man with long white hair in a pony tail was sitting on the edge of my bed. "Sara, do you know who I am?" I smiled at the man. "Of course I do Hershel. How could I forget a sweet old man like you?" He chuckled. "Good, now can you go around the room and tell me everyone's name?" I looked around and there were more people than I thought.
"Um yeah. Maggie, Glenn, Beth, Daryl, Merle, Dale, Michonne, Carol, Sophia, Andrea..." I stopped as I came across two men I did not know. "I'm not sure who they are though." I heard one guy start to get upset and he touched my hand. I pulled away and it wasn't until then that I noticed I was wearing a wedding ring. "I'm married? When did I get married? And who am I married to?" The man who was upset looked at me and held up his left hand. "You're married to me Sara." I looked at him in shock. "Wha-wh-are you sure? You're old enough to be my father!"
The man got up and walked out of the room. I looked at Maggie confused. "What's happening? And where's the baby? I want to see him." I said with a smile. Tears filled her eyes as she sat down on the other side of my bed. "Sara, you don't remember right now, but the baby...he died. A week ago. You were in a coma for a week." My expression went from happy to sad in an instant. "How did any of this happen?" I asked with tears spilling down my face. "It might be better for Rick to explain it to you." She said as she stood. "Who?" I asked. "Your husband." She said as she walked out of the room. I looked at Hershel, hoping for answers. He asked everyone to leave the room to give us some privacy. They all left and Hershel explained what had happened. I don't remember getting beat up, but Hershel's story matched ip and when I looked out the window I saw there were three dead guys laying in the street. Apparently Rick came and saved me from them.
"So then who was the other guy standing with him?" I asked. I thought hard, trying to remember his name. It just wasn't coming to me. "That's his best friend, Shane." Shane and Rick. Rick and Shane. Sounds familiar but it's not really ringing any bells. "Sara, you hit your head pretty hard last week. You have a small case of amnesia. Your memory should return within a few days to a week. If not, we may have a serious problem." I looked at Hershel confused and scared. "But why do I remember everyone else but I can't remember Shane or Ricky?" Hershel laughed. "Ricky. I like that. I'm gonna start calling him that." I was so puzzled. "Isn't that his name?" I asked. "Well, he goes by Rick. But Ricky is going to stick for me." He laughed and then got serious. "You may have selective amnesia. Meaning you only remember certain things. Like I said your memory should return within this week. I will keep an eye on you and monitor you until then."
Hershel started to walk out of the room. "Come down when you're ready." He said. "Hershel?" I called after him. He turned around and looked at me. "Can you send, um..Rick up here please." I asked. "Certainly." He said as he walked out. I got back in my bed and snuggled up, waiting for the strange man who claims to be my husband to come up.
