Wednesday morning...
I woke up still laying on the restaurant window with David. I wiggled my way off the window ensuring not to wake him up. I made my way into the kitchen to make some food for everyone. After baking some fresh pancakes I woke everyone up. We ate some food and prepared to leave the restaurant. We all decided to go home and get a fresh set of clothes.
We drove back and my parents bodies were still in the house. As my siblings got changed I pulled their bodies out to David's truck. Afterwards I quickly got changed and brought my siblings outside to say goodbye. I held Selena and Spencer in my arms as they cried hysterically and bent down to comfort my other siblings. As I saw David and Jacob approaching with their parents I took my siblings inside to allow them privacy to say their own goodbyes.
"Yesterday mother gave me something that I should give to each of you. It's letters for each of you, I'll hold onto them until you wish to open them. But you should all know that despite how mom and dad worked so much they loved and treasured you all so much" I said.
"Can I have my letter Elizabeth?" Liam asked. I agreed and handed him his letter, he handed it back. "Can you read it to me?"
"Of course Liam"
Dear Liam, my precious first son. From the day you were born I knew you were going to change my life. Not only because you were the first boy but because you were different than your sisters. You have a heart that is so selfless, you care more for others than yourself and that is a quality I never want you to lose. I want you to continue being your sweet loving self no matter what life inside the walls of Liberty Hills turns out to be. No matter what you should always keep your faith, keep dreaming big because one day I know you'll end up being the best artist the world has ever seen. Keep spreading love and positivity my child and remember we love you for who you are, don't change for anyone. Your dad and I love you Liam, always and forever.
"I miss them so much already" Liam cried.
"I know we all do, and one day when each of you are ready you'll be able to hear what mom wrote to each of you" I replied. "Now let's get going" I said as we walked out to the truck and my siblings got in. I closed the door and walked around the back of the truck where David was alone crying. I didn't say anything I just hugged him as he cried.
"I didn't even get to say goodbye" David said. "I spent all my time partying instead of spending time with them, I was an asshole for the past few years and they put up with me"
I hugged him tighter. "Your parents loved you David. No matter what you turned into these past few years they saw through all of that and saw the real you"
"How do you know that?" David asked.
I pulled back and wiped a tear from his cheek. "Because your parents worked for my mom and would come over for dinner all the time and your mom always spoke about how proud she was of you, how you were the greatest football player ever"
"Thank you Elizabeth"
We got into the car and drove to Old Meldrum's farm. Together David and I placed our parents bodies side by side with all the others. As a town we decided there and then to burn all the bodies together tonight. Since we decided I thought there was no use of staying at the farm, so we headed back into town looking for people who were alone.
"Where do you think we should start looking?" I asked.
"Maybe we could try the high school, after all some people were there when it all happened" David replied. I agreed and we started driving in the direction of the school. We arrived and all got out of the car. We stayed together and made our way through school.
"David!" A girl yelled. He turned back and the girl ran into his arms.
"Carol what are you doing here?" David asked.
"I couldn't be at home after what happened to my dad" Carol replied.
"Have you been alone?" David questioned.
"Nope I bumped into other people and we all decided to come here. Guys come through here!" Carol yelled.
Two other girls walked down the hall and it wasn't long till I realised who it was. Max and Libby walked towards us. Jenny ran and hugged her friend Libby as they both confined in each other.
"Max are you okay?" I asked.
"For now yes, I've been looking for you everywhere Elizabeth, where have you been?" Max questioned.
"I've been figuring some things out. We didn't stay at home last night because I didn't want the kids to be at home, so all of us, David and Jacob stayed in a restaurant in the town square" I replied.
"I'm just glad you're all okay" Max said.
"Me too" I replied hugging her.
"We should go now, we need to continue looking for others before the burning tonight" I said.
"Elizabeth is right, we'll all have to split up. Me, Libby and Carol will stay together, you guys go together still" Max replied. We all agreed and went our separate ways again.
After a few hours of searching numerous locations we found nothing, so we returned to the restaurant to make something to eat before the burning tonight. After I made something to eat I sat on the window again reading over the papers from the lab.
"Find anything?" David questioned.
"Nothing that's going to help me fix all of this" I replied frustrated.
"Hey, don't carry all this pressure yourself. After the burning, you and I will work on this together" David said.
"You know anything about science" I joked.
"Not a damn thing but two heads are better than one" He replied laughing.
