Thursday morning...

*knock knock knock*

The continual knocks woke me up and I quickly rushed down the stairs. I peaked out the door to check who it was and I realised I recognised him from school, I'm pretty sure he's friends with David.

I opened the door just slightly. "Hey, everything okay?"

"You're Elizabeth Smith right?" He questioned.

"Yeah" I replied confused.

"I'm Joey. The town has broken into chaos overnight. A little girl was shot at the border for trying to escape. The other people who were with her said the guards told them the government wouldn't be sending any resources into town and everyone is going crazy breaking into stores. You're the only one they'll listen to"

"Why would they listen to me?"

"They trust and respect you after the speech you made"

I rubbed my eyes attempting to wake myself up. "Okay come in till I wake everyone up"

I rushed upstairs and shook David awake.

"What's wrong?" He asked panicked.

"We've got a big problem, just get up and I'll explain" I replied. He followed me downstairs where Joey was waiting.

"David what are you doing here?" Joey asked.

"Me and Jacob are staying with Elizabeth and her siblings for a while. What are you doing here?" David questioned.

"I came to get Elizabeth" Joey replied. David looked more confused than ever.

"Long story short everyone in town is panicking and breaking into stores, we need to stop them, so I need you to stay here and look after the kids" I said.

"No way I'm leaving you to go alone. We'll bring the kids with us" David replied. Before I could even protest the idea David was waking my siblings up, I sighed but just went along with the idea.

We drove into town and saw all the broken into stores. As I peaked inside there was hardly any resources left. We rushed to the town square to broadcast a message to the entire town and that's where I seen the young girl. Someone had brought her back into town because she was still alive. I ran towards her and checked her pulse.

"She's still alive" I yelled. "Someone help me get her into the car till we get her to the hospital"

"What about the message to the town?" Joey asked.

"Get her in the car while I do that" I snapped.

I ran to the microphone and quickly sent out a message. "This is Elizabeth Smith again, everyone needs to calm down. We will not be left in town with no resources so stop freaking out. Everything you stole from the stores bring them back into the town square, everything deserves to be shared equally. Now is not the time to be selfish. Everyone get their asses to the town square now!"

"Wow that was something" Joey said.

"Stay here while everyone starts to gather Joey, the rest of us will be at the hospital" I replied quickly jumping into the car.

We drove as fast as we could to the hospital. We carried her into a surgery room where all the equipment was. I rushed my siblings into one of the waiting rooms and began searching through all the cupboards.

"Elizabeth what are we going to do" David asked.

"I have no idea" I replied stressed out. "I guess studying AB biology might help"

"Hey breathe" David said as he places his hands on my shoulders. "We're in this together, so just tell me what to do"

"Okay well she's been shot in the shoulder, the first thing to do is get the bullet out"

"Let's get started then, you've got this okay" David said. I nodded.

We spent a few hours trying different approaches but after a while we managed to get her stitched back up, we gave her some medication and waited for her to wake up.

"That was amazing. Is there anything you can't do?" David questioned.

"Hey we done that together, I would've probably passed out if it wasn't for you" I joked. David laughed.

While we were waiting we all decided to go up to the research lab to ensure no one managed to get through the lock. We climbed all the stairs and thankfully no one had. We went into the room and had another search around to see if we could find anything else, my siblings looked around also.

"Hey Elizabeth what's in here?" Spencer questioned.

"I'm not sure Spencer, let's check" I replied.

The door was rusty so it was difficult to open. We finally got through and it opened up to a long run down corridor.

"God that looks creepy" Jacob said.

"It certainly does. You guys wait here and Elizabeth and I will check it out" David said.

We walked down the corridor to only find one other door. The two of us hesitated but we opened the door together. As the door slowly pushed open we were hit with the worst smell. I covered my nose and went into the room. In the corner lay a pile of dead bodies. They looked like had been there for years.

"Elizabeth get out of there" David said.

"Wait, something about this feels familiar" I replied.

The room felt cold. It must've been some sort of large cooling room. This explains why the bodies still seem to be preserved. I pushed one of the bodies off the large pile and it came rolling down at my feet. He was a normal man not a scientist. I decided to bend down and look at the body. His condition instantly reminded me of my parents when the disease hit them. Impossible I thought to myself. This would mean the disease has been in the town for years.

"Elizabeth! David!" Liam yelled. "The girl is starting to wake up"

We instantly got up and rushed out of the research room, insuring to lock it behind us. As we rushed into the room the girl looked around all confused.

"Where am I?" The little girl questioned as she slowly sat up.

"You're at the hospital. I'm Elizabeth and this is David, do remember what happened. Do you remember your name?" I asked.

"I'm Maria. I tried to climb over the fence because my sister goes to college outside of town" Maria said.

"Do you have any other family who live in town?" David asked.

"My other sister, but I haven't been able to find her" Maria replied.

"Okay well come with us and we can find her together" I added.

Together we all drove back to the town square where people had gathered with the resources they had stolen. We got out the car and Joey rushed over to us.

"Thank god you're back people were getting impatient" Joey said. I just nodded and made my way up to the statue.

"Attention everyone!" I yelled.
