Friday morning...
It was another regular morning. We woke up and made breakfast almost forgetting about the doomsday outside. After quickly eating we packed up all the paperwork from our parents office and everything else that could be related to the disease to bring in all to the research lab. We got there and laid all the paperwork out in a random room.
"Right so Jenny and Jacob I want you two to start reading through these, set aside anything that mentions human testing, chemical and biological reactions just anything that could be related to the disease" I said.
"How will we know for sure, what if all of this has something to do with the disease" Jacob replied.
"Just trust what you think" I replied.
With that the two of them sat in the room reading over stacks of paperwork.
"As for you three" I said referring to Liam, Spencer and Selena. "I want you guys to sit on the sofa right over there where David and I can see you. There's board games there so play them and you'll be entertained for a few hours" I said. They agreed and walked off.
"And what will be doing?" David questioned.
"You might want to put these on" I replied handing him a lab coat, lab goggles and gloves. "We'll be extracting blood from the infected. To create a cure I need to know what the disease is made up of" I finished while putting on my own lab coat.
"Sounds like a fantastic morning" David sarcastically replied. I just rolled my eyes.
I grabbed a few needles from the lab and headed down the long corridor to reach the bodies. I extracted blood from my dad's research partner as I knew he had been infected with the recent disease. As for the rest of the people in the room I had no idea, they could be infected with something completely different. I returned to the room where David was waiting for me.
"So how do you know about all this? I mean I never saw you in my chemistry or biology classes" David questioned.
"No offence but you were in the very basic chemistry classes. I've been AB classes since I was 13. I observed my dad a lot and quickly picked it up" I replied.
"I guess that explains why I've never seen you around before" David added.
"No not really" I said.
"What does that mean? David asked.
"Simple" I replied as I dropped the extracts and turned to look at him. "You were the captain of the football team, I was one of the smart kids who spent their time in the library studying instead of attending your games. I knew who you were, but you David was to busy chasing after Carol the head cheerleader following about every single stereotype ever to notice the nobody who literally lived two minutes away from you"
He went silent. I realised that was quite harsh but I couldn't help it. I mean we've been in the same grade as each other for as long as I can remember and he had no clue who I was.
*bang!*
"What was that?" I yelled running out of the room.
"Someone is at the door" Selena replied shaking.
"Quick everyone in here" I whispered guiding them into the room where Jenny and Jacob were. "Wait here I'll be right back" I added closing the door and locking it so no one could run after me.
"Elizabeth!" David yelled as I ran down the corridor to my fathers office.
I quickly searched through his desk till I found his gun. He had bought it a few years ago but mom wouldn't let him keep it in the house. I grabbed it and bullets and ran towards the door with the loaded gun.
"Who the hell is there?!" I yelled pointing the gun towards the door.
There was no reply. The person just continued kicking the door.
"I swear to god if you come in here I'll kill your ass" I shouted as I saw the door slowly breaking down.
The man broke through the door and I immediately had the gun pointed right at his head.
"Whoah kid calm down" The man said as he put his hands in the air.
"Who the hell are you?" I questioned still pointing the gun at him.
"I can't tell you that" He replied.
I quickly pinned him up against the wall and forced the gun into his mouth. I knew this man had the power to overthrow me but for some reason he didn't.
"I'll ask you once more before I blow your brains out. Who are you?" I whispered in his ear. I pulled the gun out of his mouth and pointed it at his forehead.
"I'm Frank" He replied.
"Now that wasn't so hard. What are you doing here Frank?" I questioned.
"I live in Liberty Hills" He replied.
"FALSE" I yelled. "You'd be dead if you lived here"
"Not true, only some people died from the disease" He said.
"Listen Frank I'm not as clueless as everyone else, everyone over 21 is dead, therefore you'd be dead. So stop with the bullshit and start telling me the truth because in case you've forgotten I still have a gun pointed at you" I replied.
"You're bluffing kid, that gun is empty" He confidently replied.
I turned around and shot the gun towards the end of the corridor. The bullet flew down the corridor and shot right through a wall.
"Trust me on one thing, I ain't a bluffer" I replied. "Now stop lying to me" I added pointing the gun back at him again.
"Okay, it all started 6 years ago" He said.
Inside the locked room...
"What the hell is she doing?" David asked frustrated. "She's going to get herself killed pointing a gun at that guy"
"Elizabeth is a lot stronger than you're making her out to be" Jenny said.
"Still I should be out there helping her" David replied.
"Well why aren't you? The past few days you've been glued to each other" Jacob said.
"She's pissed at me" David replied.
"Oh no, what'd you do?" Liam questioned.
"She may or may not have brought up the fact that I didn't know who she was until Tuesday" David said.
"Okay well she has every right to be pissed" Jenny replied.
"I don't see why it's such a big deal" David added.
"Boys" Jenny said rolling her eyes. "You just never understand the important things"
Before David could reply the gun went off and everyone quickly ran to the window looking to ensure it wasn't Elizabeth being hurt. She began walking down the corridor with the man.
"Elizabeth let me out! Don't go anywhere alone with him" David yelled banging on the door as Elizabeth walked past but she simply just ignored him.
