The next couple of days were filled with hanging out with Raven, worrying about Wednesday, and job hunting. I had just finished my last semester this past spring and was trying to find a job at a publishing company. That way when I got more serious with my writing, I had an in to getting it published. There were a couple companies within driving distance, which I applied to. When it came down to worrying about Wednesday, I was a wreck. I couldn’t help but play out the worse scenarios in my head.  What if I had a mental breakdown and made a fool of myself? What if I got so nervous I threw up on his shoes? Oh god I hope that doesn’t happen…

To make it worse, when Wednesday arrived, I woke up forty five minutes before he was supposed to pick me up. I guess all that worrying wore me down and I over slept. I woke up and freaked out! I remembered that Josh didn’t know where I lived so I quickly texted him the address and ran to jump in the shower. I did my hair as quickly as possible and went to get dressed. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse , I realized I  didn’t even have an outfit picked out yet! With ten minutes to go I quickly threw on a red, loose fitting shirt, white skinny jeans, and my brown boots, hoping it would suffice. At five minutes to noon I heard a knock on the door and heard Raven yell “I’ve got it!”

Oh my god. I totally forgot about Raven! I didn’t even think about her being here when I texted Josh my address!

“No!” I shouted back, sprinting out of my room and to the front door as fast as I could. “I’ll get it!”

“Woah! What’s the big deal?” Raven asked. “You have some super-secret friend I can’t know about or something?”

Yes.

“No, umm I’m just going out with a friend today and we’re already running late so I’m just gunna go! Bye!” I said, opening the door just enough to fit my body through.

Shutting the door behind me I grabbed Josh’s arm and ran. I didn’t let go until we were safely behind his car where I could tell him what was up.

“What’s the rush?” he asked.

“I’m sorry!” I said, apologizing. “It’s just, Raven can’t know I’m hanging out with you today or she will freak out, and not in a good way…”

“It’s okay, I totally understand! Wouldn’t want to get you in trouble or anything,” he said with a wink, awakening the butterflies in my stomach yet again.

I held my breath as I walked over to the passenger side of Josh’s jeep and got in. Hoping and praying that Raven hadn’t been nosey and looked out the window.

Josh jumped in and looked at me, with the frightened look on my face. He started laughing and I looked at him and laughed too. I relaxed after that and buckled up.

“So where are we off too?”
