If You Only Knew

Chapter Sixteen

“Raven, I can explain, it’s not what it looks like!” I said quickly.

“Oh really? Because it looks like you’re walking in at seven o’clock, when you know our show starts at six! How could you miss it Bella!? We have watched every episode together since it came out!”

Holy crap. I don’t think I had ever been more relieved in my life! I totally thought she saw Josh and I! I let out a big sigh of relief. I could breathe again.

“Ray, I’m so sorry! I totally forgot that it was Wednesday and I lost track of time. I’ll make it up to you, promise!” I pleaded.

“Then you can start now by answering a few questions!” she said, sitting on the couch and patting the spot next to her, wanting me to sit.

I started to get nervous again. What if she asked who I was with? Or what I was doing? I couldn’t tell her the truth, so I would need to think fast in order to get around it somehow.

“Umm, sure, what do you want to know?” I said.

A huge smile came across her face as she asked,

“Were you with a guy!?”

“Umm, maybe…” I said.

“You totally were, weren’t you!” she squealed, bouncing up and down. “OMG Bella who is he!?”

“He’s just a friend Ray, nothing more.”

Yet.

“Come on Bella, spill the deets! I want to know all about this mystery man! Is he cute? Is he tall? Hair color? Eyes? Oh my gosh, what’s his name!?”

“Ray, like I said, he’s just friend. Maybe soon I’ll tell you more, but not now.”

I prayed to god that I was a good liar. She could never find out.

“Fine, but I better get to meet this guy soon! No guy gets to date my best friend unless I approve!” she said seriously, but then laughed it off.

I just gave her a small, sheepish smile.

“Well, I’m going to go watch TV in my room and do a little web surfing, I’ll talk to you in the morning, night Bella!”

Raven gave me a hug and walked off to her room, leaving me to my own thoughts. What was I going to do? I wasn’t going to be able to keep this from her forever. One day she would find out whether I allowed it or not. I was getting myself in deep, too deep. But how could I resist him? The way he looked into my eyes, the way he opened up to me, it all felt so real. So right. I was falling for Josh Hutcherson, and there was no way to stop it.
