Chapter Eleven

Raven and I went out for dinner that night and she continued to talk about her and Josh. The more she talked about it, the worse I felt. I mean, here was my best friend since we were 9 years old, talking to me about wanting to go on a date with her biggest crush, and here I was hiding the fact that I was going on a date with him. God that sounds awful…

I guess it’s not really a date though is it?  I mean we’re just two people that are going to hang out because we enjoy each other’s company. That’s all. However, the fact that I may possibly want it to be more than that one day makes me the world’s worst best friend ever. She’s going to hate me when she finds out… UNLESS, she never finds out..

“Earth to Bella!?” Raven shouted.

I snapped out of my thoughts and realized that she was standing up to leave the restaurant.

“Oh, sorry Ray,” I said. “Don’t I need to pay?”

“Nope! I paid for you because you are the world’s bestest friend ever!” she said smiling.

Great. Now the guilt is even worse.

I didn’t say anything the whole ride home, in fear that I would slip up and tell her about my plans on Wednesday. When we got home I just silently walked to my room to sit and sulk in my guilt. About a half an hour into grieving over my lack of being a good friend, my phone went off and I grabbed it to see who texted me.

Hey Bella, this is Josh :), it read.

Here come those dang butterflies again…

Hey Josh! Glad to see I gave you the correct number (:, wow that sounded dumb..

So am I! BTW, Driver was whining after you left today, I think he likes you!

lol, I like him too! But listen, about Wednesday… I typed back.

I was about to tell him that I wasn’t going to be able to make it. I felt terrible about going behind Raven’s back and knew that I should probably cancel.

I’m glad you brought that up! I just wanted to say that I’m looking forward to spending time with you and getting to know you better. I really enjoyed our walk on the beach the other day and can’t wait until Wednesday! I can’t tell you what we’re doing, it’s a surprise :) But wear something casual!, he replied.

I couldn’t bail on him now. Not after that. He actually wanted to spend time with me and was looking forward to it! How could I not go!?

Sounds great, I’m looking forward to it as well! What time should I be ready by? I said.

I’ll pick you up at noon! he said.

I’ll be ready and waiting!

Awesome! I have to go, but I will talk to you Wednesday! Good night Bella :)

It was all suddenly becoming so real. I was going to spend the day with Josh Hutcherson on Wednesday. Never in a million years did I ever think I would do that. Never in a million years did I think I would feel this way.
