IT WAS FRIDAY night and Mina was laying down, halfway between sleep and being awake. She was peacefully watching Cody Ko videos on her bed, a cup of peppermint tea on the table beside her.
She was feeling utterly relaxed, or the closest to it she could be with an upcoming Physics test, when there was a knock on her door.
Mina looked up, pulled out of her blissful state and stared at the door, as if she was waiting for it to grow a mouth and start talking.
"Yeah?" Mina called out and the person on the other side coughed, clearing their throat.
"It's Peter. Can I come in?"
Without a moment's hesitation, Mina launched herself up quickly, throwing the blanket that was wrapped around her off and standing up.
"Uh, yeah! One sec."
As Mina walked to the door, the blanket followed her and twisted around her legs, tripping her and making her fall to the floor. She laid there, her knees stinging until the door was opened and Mina and Peter were staring at each other in surprise.
"Well, hello there." Mina found herself saying and Peter shook his head, a smile finding its way to his lips and he let out a chuckle.
"Are you okay?"
From the floor, Mina shrugged, kicking the purple fuzzy blanket off her feet with a precise kick.
"I've been worse." She answered honestly. Then, she pulled herself back up and looked at Peter with a cheerful grin. "What's up?"
He looked at her and shrugged his own shoulders, letting his eyes wander the room so he wouldn't look too closely at Mina. He was forever paranoid that one of these days she would catch him staring at her and be weirded out, or worse: she would find out his crush on her.
And if that happened before he wanted it to, Peter would quite gladly allow the earth to swallow him whole. He would probably even say a quick, quiet thank you to it before disappearing.
Mina sucked in her cheek, nodding her head and playing with ends of her hair. She noticed the blue was fading and it was now a sort of green-yellow color. Definitely not flattering on her.
Mina groaned audibly, pulling Peter out of his world of disappearing and mercy earth swallowing. He turned over to her, eyebrows raised and her eyes flitted from his eyes to the floor and back again before she answered.
"My stupid hair. It keeps running out of color and now it looks like someone threw up on my head." She told Peter, and then as if addressing her hair, she added: "I don't know what you want from me! I dyed you a month ago!"
"Your nickname henceforth will be Puke." Peter said, walking over to Mina's bed and sitting down with a plop. Mina, a short ways away, glared at him.
